Summary: This position is responsible for managing and directing customer, behavioral, and agency predictive analytics throughout the data science lifecycle from problem statement, data exploration, modeling, and deployment. Recommending strategies based on analytics, models, and market research to improve effectiveness across related business units and functions. 

What You’ll Be Doing:

  • Manage a team of data scientists to translate business problems into actionable analytic projects that drive business performance.
  • Assist in hiring and training of data scientists. Motivate direct reports to achieve business objectives.
  • In collaboration with Enterprise Analytics leadership, identify, adopt, and maintain analytic best practices around predictive modeling techniques, programming languages, and software applications.
  • Establish and maintain best practices for model maintenance, validation, and refresh.
  • Partner with corporate IT, data office, and business partners to develop and maintain data marts at the customer, household, and agency level for use in predictive modeling.
  • Work with the data office, IT, business units, and third-party companies to assess and incorporate demographic, firmographic, geographic, telematic, internet-of-things (IOT), and other data sources for analytic benefit.
  • Collaborate with the Personal and Commercial Lines, Sales and Marketing, Customer Experience, and other internal client teams to support corporate initiatives using predictive analytics.
  • Build effective relationships with internal customers. Regularly report project status and prioritize as needed based on stakeholder feedback.
  • Prioritize work of direct reports based on input from business partners.
  • Synthesize findings, analysis, and recommendations into senior level presentations that convey insights and recommendations through compelling, persuasive, and efficient story-telling, while maintaining a balance between key insights and mastery of details.
  • What You’ll Bring To The Company:

  • Bachelor’s degree required. Advanced degree in statistics or related areas that includes research methodology, advanced analytics, data mining techniques, statistical/predictive modeling and applied statistics is strongly preferred.
  • 7+ years’ experience with advanced use of statistics and dynamic model building strongly preferred including cluster analysis, latent class, logistic regression, decision trees, and other non-linear algorithms, linear regression techniques (GLM), and forecasting/time series
  • Direct experience with large data sets, SAS, Python, or R, and relational database models such as Oracle, DB2, and SQL Server, and Snowflake. Familiarity with AWS platform is a plus.
  • Prior experience managing a team of statistical analysts or data scientists preferred.
  • Prior insurance industry experience including customer centric, behavioral, marketing, segmentation, distribution analytics or equivalent experience, is required.
  • Candidate must have an aptitude for critical thinking and problem resolution and strong communication skills.
