About The Opportunity

ClearGov is looking for a Product Owner who will work closely with the Product Development team and coordinate cross-functionally to take ownership of one or more ClearGov products and ensure that it meets the needs and requirements of our Customers. The Product Owner will act as a liaison between the development team and ClearGov customers/users. They will gather and develop user stories, which describe the product from the user’s perspective and use these insights to create detailed product requirement specifications. The Product owner is responsible for managing the execution of product development, through the Agile Development process lifecycle.

The Product Owner will also act as the “go-to” resource for product expertise to provide cross-functional support, as needed, including but not limited to resolving Client Success issues, enabling product Training programs and facilitating Sales opportunities.

The ideal candidate must be a data-driven, growth-oriented contributor and a creative, out-of-the-box thinker. The position requires someone who is passionate about our mission, can learn the local government market quickly; who is fluent in Atlassian project management tools; and who has been successful managing projects from vision to launch.

This is a key role on ClearGov’s product development team, one we consider critical for our future success.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Actively communicate and collaborate with ClearGov clients and prospective users to understand and anticipate their needs and translate them into product requirements
  • Collect, define and organize feature/functionality requests from internal (Sales and Client Success) and external (Customers) sources
  • Develop user stories and translate them into detailed product requirements specifications
  • Research and provide competitive insights to the product strategy team
  • Actively participate with product leaders to define the vision for the assigned products
  • Creating a detailed product road map based on this vision
  • Manage the feature backlog and prioritize requests based on changing requirements
  • Monitor and evaluate product progress at each stage of the process and effectively resolve bottleneck issues and communicate critical path priorities
  • Actively participate in Scrum meetings and product sprints

Critical Skills/Experience:
  • 4+ years of product management/development or related experience
  • In-depth knowledge of Scrum and Agile Software Development Methodology
  • Proven success in managing complex, multi-faceted SaaS product development in a high-growth, early-stage environment
  • Superb organizational and time management skills and ability to prioritize effectively
  • Working knowledge of product development architecture
  • Proven ability to actively listen to customer input/feedback and identify solutions
  • Proficiency with the Attlassian product management suite, including Jira, Confluence and Trello.
  • Profound attention to detail and an informed POV on what makes product development work
  • Working knowledge of user-centered design principles and design quality standards
  • Excellent oral and written communication
  • Proven ability to work with cross-functional teams
  • A strong interest in the local-government space, along with the willingness and ability to get up to speed quickly on the key buyer personas and processes
  • A roll-up-your-sleeves, GSD approach to the day-to-day. A willingness to hustle and innovate whenever and however necessary to get important things done.
