The Senior Business Systems Analyst, IT Digital formulates and defines digital systems scope and objectives through research and fact-finding combined with an understanding of applicable business systems and Retail industry requirements. Develops or modifies complex information systems, including analysis of business and user needs. This person will be working in an iterative fashion working within a scrum team. The candidate in this position is familiar with technology and business use of technology, which allows them to provide recommendations of business process and product improvements in line with the business vision. Candidate may be required to act as a scrum master on digital product teams. The candidate must be able to build effective cross functional relationships, communicate effectively to meet the needs of varying audiences, collaborate with development teams, and assist with driving project deadlines. We are open to remote candidates based in the United States for this opportunity.

Reports To: Manager, Iteration Management & Support

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Essential Functions:

  • Provides the functional specifications in the form of Agile user stories and acceptance criteria
  • Appropriately tags and organizes cards to roll up into features, epics, and initiatives
  • Leads cross functional requirements and design sessions
  • Creates functional specifications and mapping documents to DSW standards
  • Primary responsibility for the success of the IT deliverables
  • Performs functional analysis, design, and implementation of new business systems:
  • Prepares requirements definitions including user procedures, flowcharts, and preliminary reports
  • Creates functional systems design, logical system flow and implementation plans
  • Prepares user documentation and follow-up evaluations
  • Provides input for the feasibility of proposed projects or features
  • Participates in the prioritization process for issues and features
  • Participates in testing, user training and result evaluation
  • Participates as a project team member as assigned
  • Provide production support:

  • Facilitates production requests from user groups
  • Evaluates results on production systems requested from user groups or production support
  • May provide work direction or training for support personnel
  • Answers production questions from user groups
  • Analyze service desk development support tickets
  • Partners with users to identify system improvements that increase efficiencies
  • Assist in identifying / triaging issues and work with the development team to resolve
  • Interacts and contributes to scrum teams:

  • Works directly with Product owners to help define and capture functionality
  • Documents non-functional requirements when necessary to assist the team
  • Works directly with developers, QA, UX, and others to elicit requirements correctly and provide clarification where needed

    Qualifications:

    Experience:

  • 5+ years’ experience as a business analyst
  • Ability to evaluate, analyze and solve highly technical and complex incidents or business problem
  • Customer facing application experience is highly desired
  • Experience working in an Agile environment leveraging Scrum, XP, KanBan, SAFe or other industry standard methodologies
  • Proficiency in various planning and development tools such as IRise, Confluence, JIRA, SharePoint, Balsamiq, MS Azure DevOps
  • Strong analytical skills required, including a thorough understanding of how to interpret customer business needs and translate them into functional requirements
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with an ability to express complex technical concepts in business terms.
  • Experience working in scrum teams
  • Capturing requirements in a card-based system such as ADO or Jira
  • Captured and documented tasks, user stories, and epics
  • Experience working in cross functional and cross platform teams
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Project, Visio)
  • Experience in collaborating with multiple teams across IT and the business
  • Preferred Qualifications:

  • Acceptance Test Driven Development (ATDD) or Behavior Driven Development (BDD) experience
  • Refinement of User Stories including documenting acceptance criteria in Given-When-Then format
  • Education:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Computer Science, Management Information Systems, or related discipline
