The Global PMO Ongoing Project Team is responsible for the delivery of medium-large scale ongoing projects for client accounts post-implementation. The team drives organizational success, both internally and for our clients through project leadership and project management methods that reduce risk, minimize issues and ensure on time, on budget implementations that delight our clients and customers.

The Project Manager 2 (PM 2) is accountable for all aspects of the project over the entire life (initiate, plan, execute, communicate, control, close). Must be familiar with system scope and project objectives, as well as the role and function of each team member, to effectively coordinate the activities of the team. Measures project performance using appropriate tools and techniques in order to monitor the progress of the project, identify and quantify any variances (in time, cost, scope or quality) perform any required corrective actions, and communicate to all stakeholders.

The PM 2 is responsible for assembling the project team, assigning individual responsibilities, identifying appropriate resources needed, and developing schedule to ensure timely completion of project. May communicate with a Senior Project Manager, Functional Area Manager, or Program Manager regarding status of specific projects.

As a Project Manager 2, a typical day to include the following:

Scope:

  • Owns successful completion of assigned projects using ongoing project methodology, processes, and tools

  • Responsible for successfully completing project milestones and deliverables for all phases of the project

  • Accountable for project oversight and status reporting

  • Responsible for project specific change request administration

  • Strictly follows the change control procedures to ensure that changes to scope / contract commitments are formally captured, estimated, boarded, and implemented successfully

  • Responsible for implementing the project testing strategy in collaboration with the test manager and workstream leads

  • Owns the deployment plan (cutover / conversion detail tasks, timeline, post go-live management reporting and stabilization). Leads work streams to successfully complete all deployment deliverable

  • ​Relationship Management

  • Partners closely with workstream leads, Test Manager, Program Manager, other PMs, IT teams and client peers

  • Engages with the project team to build consensus and integrate plans

  • Leads workstreams through all project phases, facilitating solution options and making recommendations / decisions to stay on schedule

  • Develop relationship with the Program Manager for status reporting, escalations, client relationship development

  • Communications

  • Proactively maintains open dialogue with team members

  • Facilitates effective meetings; establishes objectives and agenda, manages logistics, documents meeting decisions / actions; ensure all open items are successfully closed

  • Responsible for reporting project health and issues with clear actions and accountabilities

  • Financial Management

  • Assists in the oversight of the project’s budget, actuals and forecasts leveraging the project financial management tool and following the financial management processes

  • Works with team to identify variances to plan; estimates project impact and drives plan revisions based on the change control Process

  • Responsible for weekly review of time reported / attestation for project

  • Issue & Risk Management

  • Proactively identifies and manages issues, risks, and actions; escalates as needed to avoid project impacts and delay

  • Responsible for maintaining accurate action logs

  • Responsible for timely resolution of actions, risks, issues logged throughout the project

  • Responsible for collaborating across workstreams to ensure integrated solutions

  • Responsible for timely escalations to Program Manager when needed

  • Develops and executes overall risk mitigation plan, ensuring integrated impacts and dependencies are addressed

  • Ensures appropriate leadership and stakeholders (client and internal Alight) are aware of and approve mitigation / corrective action plans

  • Quality Management

  • Responsible for timely and accurate:

  • Completion of all assigned project plans and status reporting

  • Completion of all project milestones and deliverables

  • Maintenance of all assigned documentation

  • Strictly follows the change control procedures to ensure that changes to scope / contract commitments are formally captured, estimated, boarded, implemented successfully; ensures project budget is adjusted to reflect changes

  • Deliverables

  • Project governance and status reporting

  • Maintenance of Smartsheet and other documentation

  • Completion of all project deliverables (all phases), including formal client approval

  • Skills

  • Excellent verbal and written communication, interpersonal, and customer service skills

  • Ability to develop and maintain effective business relationships with internal and external stakeholders

  • Excellent project management and organizational skills including a keen attention to detail

  • Ability to multi-task, delegate, and prioritize tasks

  • Strong technical, analytical, and problem-solving skills

  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, high volume, deadline-driven environment.

  • Knowledge

  • 5 - 7 years of experience in a similar role

  • PMP/PRINCE2 certification or equivalent (desired)

  • Fluent skills: Microsoft Office suite, (MSS) Project Plan

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced role, integrating across internal workstreams and effectively manage assigned responsibility area with assigned client partner

  • Education

  • Bachelor's degree or relevant work experience

  • HR Consulting, payroll and outsourcing industry experience preferred
