Job Description

An employer is seeking a REMOTE CAD Drafter to work remotely within the Eastern or Central time zones. The company currently has a small team of GIS/OSP Engineering professionals that is dedicated to supporting the Southeast Region, and they are looking to grow! Qualified candidates are preferred to have a strong background in network cable construction drafting as well as a minimum of 2 years working in engineering related job roles. This person should expect to work in a dynamic environment where priorities and duties may shift quickly. The ideal candidate will be a self-starter who is able to independently solve problems with minimum of guidance.

Daily responsibilities will include the following:

-Design engineering plans used for construction purposes and permitting applications

-Work alongside Engineering staff to acquire initial plan setup and all requirements set by permitting agencies (working with the companys internal Permitting Specialist)

-Accountable for understanding and implementing all requirements proposed by each permitting agency

-Help maintain engineering software database to keep infrastructure records accurate

Minimum Requirements

-2+ years' experience Drafting CAD

-Drafting Design Suites (AutoCAD, Microstation, etc.) and working knowledge of these platforms

-Microsoft Office Suite skills must be able to quickly learn and produce documentation to company standards

-Adobe PDF application skills must be able to create and modify documentation given within this format

-Knowledge or experience with best practices for Construction and Fiber Networking

-Great communication skills to be able to discuss project scopes internally and externally

-Travel Requirements 5 to 10% - getting out into the field to gain knowledge of existing fiber footprint

Desired Skills

-Telecom Fiber industry

-Professional level of knowledge with fiber optic networks and components

-Past or current FOA Certification

-Knowledge and/or experience with MAPCOM M4 platform
