Electric Generation Remote Operator (Part-Time/Full-Time)


Wellhead Power Exchange LLC, is currently seeking an Electric Generation Remote Operator ( Part-Time/Full-Time) to join their team in Sacramento, California 95811


** MUST be able to work graveyard shift (Mon-Fri 12 am-8am) AND/OR weekend shifts. Please do not apply for the position if you are not able to work these shifts **

Since 1982 we have developed and operated more than 400MW of power generation facilities in California and afield. We are experts in natural gas generation, solar and storage. In 2016 we designed and brought to market our award-winning Hybrid EGT solution. Additionally, we have developed for other operators. Our ongoing development work will add significantly more to that number. We Design, Develop, Build, Operate. We are a privately held developer and operator of innovative energy generation and energy storage facilities.


About the role:


The responsibilities of the Electric Generation Remote Operator shall entail, but are not limited to, operate and monitor electric generating facilities in accordance with Wellhead Power eXchange (WPX) operating procedures, and all applicable agreements and tariffs via remote control systems in response to dispatch schedules and real time instructions received via the CAISO's Automated Dispatch System (ADS)


What you'll do:


• Real Time Operations- monitor the CAISO's Automatic Dispatch System (ADS) notification screen for instructions relevant to generators controlled and operated by Wellhead Services, Inc. (WSI)

• Start, stop, and adjust generators via remote control system in response to instructions received vis ADS.

• Casualty Control and Emergency Response

• Logging of plant parameters and events in accordance with established practices.

• Report alarms and/or abnormal conditions to the on-call plant technicians and/or plant manager in accordance with established practice

• Communications with facility Scheduling Coordinators (SC) if SC is not WPX

• Site Security monitoring

• Telecom support

• Operations Reports- obtain and enter historical info into various spreadsheets and databases, perform analysis of historical industry data, perform internet-based research and data retrieval

• Other duties as assigned


Skills and abilities:


• Must be able to Multi-Task

• Must have strong communications skills

• Must be able to work in a high stress environment

• Must possess general knowledge of Microsoft Suite products. This includes: Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook.

• Possess knowledge on the Windows OS and general computer knowledge

• Possess strong analytical skills.

Education and experience


• High School Diploma/GED.

• One to two years related experience and/or training; completion of a trade school or equivalent combination of education and experience.

• Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups.

• Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

• Prefer strong background and fluency in word processing and spreadsheet software. AutoCAD a plus.
