Your Opportunity

If you love building developer tools, CLIs, APIs and crafting inspiring hands-on experiences that will be used by 1000’s of engineers, we want to hear from you! New Relic is looking for a Software Engineer to join our international team, based in our US Development Center in Portland or based in the US working remotely.

As Software Engineer, you will join the Developer Enablement team, a team chartered to enable developers with a set of tools and utilities. (e.g. SDKs & CLIs, apps, our demo experience, and our developer web properties) You’ll need to be comfortable working on open source projects and ready to put our end-users (developers, engineers) in the center.

What You’ll Do

  • Build & maintain backend and frontend services for our developer tools & sites, in support of the journey of our users.
  • Participate in architectural definitions with a high degree of innovation and creativity.
  • Creating automation and tooling to make our systems more scalable and easier to deploy.
  • Collaborate within a multidisciplinary team to help our customers and partners.
  • Work in an open-source ecosystem on a regular basis by submitting pull requests
  • Working in an agile environment with a DevOps approach—teams build and maintain their own software, including taking turns with being on-call.
  • Your Qualifications

    Must-have:

  • 2+ years professional hands-on experience with configuration management tools (e.g. Ansible or Terraform)
  • Hands-on experience in developer tools, operational tools, including monitoring tools, and continuous delivery CI/CD tools (e.g. Jenkins, TravisCI, Bamboo, CircleCI)
  • Strong understanding of DevOps with an understanding of how software is built, packaged, and deployed in AWS
  • Experience with front-end technologies (e.g. React, Javascript/ES6, and SASS)
  • Good written communication skills & fluent in English
  • Nice-to-have:

  • Experience in working with open source projects is a plus
  • Prior experience building developer platforms
  • Experience with server-side technologies (e.g. Ruby, Elixir, or NodeJS)
  • Prior experience working with container tools (e.g. Kubernetes, Docker)
  • Please note, this position is not eligible for visa sponsorship.

We're looking for bold and passionate people to be a part of our mission to create more perfect software. We'd love to have you apply, even if you don't feel you meet every single requirement. What's most meaningful to us is finding authentic and accountable people who feel connected to our values, not just candidates who check off all the boxes.

We believe in empowering all Relics to achieve professional, and business success through a workforce model called Flex First. The Flex First model allows us to work in a variety of workplaces that best support our success, including fully office-based, fully remote, or a combination of both.
