Position Summary:

As Credit and Collections Specialist you will review debtor's credit to assess credit risk, set credit limits and review accounts. The position will also be required to contact debtors to collect payments owed. Must have excellent customer service, negotiation, and analytical skills.

Essential Job Functions:

* Underwrite potential debtors using credit reporting agencies and access if credit is within credit guidelines
* Analyze credit data through external credit resources to determine the degree of risk involved in extending credit
* Collect outstanding accounts receivable invoices within company payment terms
* Recommend and assist in implementing new processes and procedures to improve collections and reduce past due balances
* Determine credit limits by analyzing credit reports and rating systems
* Resolve billing and customer credit issues
* Maintain and monitor existing accounts to identify overdue payments and increased risk
* Find and contact debtors to arrange debt payment
* Document daily collections activity
* Research account disputes and billing discrepancies
* Complete the setup on accounts for new debtors including billing and payment information

Position Requirements:

* High School diploma preferred
* Experience with transportation, factoring, credit and collections, and/or lending preferred
* Organization skills in a detail-oriented setting
* Ability to maintain records and multitask within various responsibilities
* Ability to work with internal departments and organization groups to meet a common goal
* Must be able to work independently
* Problem-solving skills
* Patience and ability to manage stress

Physical Demands:

Minimum physical exertion. While performing the duties of this position, the employee is frequently required to sit, communicate, reach and manipulate objects, tools or controls. The position requires mobility. Duties involve moving materials weighing up to 5 pounds on a regular basis. Manual dexterity and coordination are required over 75% of the work period while operating equipment such as computer keyboard, mouse, 10-key calculator and copier/fax.

Work Environment:

The working conditions will vary between an office environment and a remote home environment. The ideal protected indoor work environment is a clean, non-hazardous work area. The noise level in the work environment is typical of most office or remote home environments with telephones, personal interruptions, and background noises.
