The OptumRx Strategy team is responsible for identifying and driving forward strategic initiatives across our expansive Pharmacy Care Services business. We are part of the OptumRx Product & Strategy team and work closely with leaders across OptumRx to develop critical market insights, provide strategic direction, identify and assess new business and product opportunities, develop partnerships, and drive the development of new business solutions. We also partner with teams across Optum, UnitedHealthcare, and UnitedHealth Group to support corporate efforts including business planning, corporate development, Board of Directors communications, and Investor Relations. We focus on the highest impact solutions to address our business priorities in a rapidly evolving pharmacy marketplace.

As a Strategy Analyst in OptumRx, you will leverage data and analytics to solve our greatest business challenges and opportunities, working with the rest of the OptumRx strategy team on.

You'll enjoy the flexibility to telecommute* from anywhere within the U.S. as you take on some tough challenges.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Gather and analyze internal and external data to evaluate business challenges
  • Develop and validate hypotheses and drive strategic recommendations
  • Communicate analyses and key takeaways through reports and presentations
  • Manage data extraction working with data owners
  • Support the OptumRx strategy team in developing deliverables and executing on strategy projects and initiatives
  • Perform pharmacy market scans and competitor analyses and identify and analyze trends

Required Qualifications:

  • BS or BA in a Quantitative field (Economics, Applied Math, Statistics, Business, Computer Science, Engineering, others considered) or equivalent experience
  • 2+ years of financial modeling experience including building projections using market data and assumptions
  • 2+ years of analytical work around healthcare data (example: patient level data, claims, EHR, etc.)
  • Advanced Excel skills (creation of pivot tables, formulas, linking of cells and sheets, advanced manipulation, formatting of data, data visualization)
  • Experience utilizing PowerPoint for business presentations
  • Experience problem solving, using data and analytical skills
  • Experience communicating analytical findings and answers to internal and external clients
  • Experience working in a cross-matrixed team-oriented environment

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience working within innovation environments (start-ups, venture capital, new business development)
  • Healthcare consulting experience
  • Banking experience
  • M & A experience
  • SAS(Unix), R, or Python to develop analyses experience
  • SQL experience to extract data from databases, data cleansing and integration

Colorado Residents Only: The salary range for Colorado residents is $64,800 to $116,000. Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to education, work experience, certifications, etc. In addition to your salary, UnitedHealth Group offers benefits such as, a comprehensive benefits package, incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase and 401k contribution (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements).
