Truist Underwriters are remote throughout the Truist Retail Banking Footprint. This includes: AL, AR, DC, FL, GA, IN, KY, MD, MS, NJ, NC, OH, PA, SC, TN, TX, VA & WV

Must have at least 5 years of frontline, 1st mortgage underwriting experience with lending authority and strong credit analysis experience.

Underwriter is responsible for underwriting residential mortgage loans to ensure compliance with bank, investor and secondary market standards. Communicates with processor, originators and other internal and external customers. Meets performance standards and goals established by the bank. Approve acceptable loans within maximum conforming lending limits.ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Following is a summary of the essential functions for this job. Other duties may be performed, both major and minor, which are not mentioned below. Specific activities may change from time to time. 
1. Perform detailed underwriting analysis of all Truist Financial mortgage loan products including calculating all income type, calculating complex financial analysis, analyzing title reports and lien information, reviewing all financial statements, and reviewing all additional documentation prior to approval.
2. Ensure that all loan files are documented to meet portfolio and investor guidelines to ensure marketability and maintain quality standards.
3. Develop and maintain a strong understanding of Mortgage Lending products, policies, processes, and their required documentation.
4. Loans to be adequately conditioned to meet Mortgage Lending products, policies, processes, and their required documentation.
5. Adhere to all compliance regulations and controls.
6. Conduct proactive and effective pipeline management to ensure that metrics are met.
7. Develop and maintain positive working relationship with co-workers, internal and external clients, business partners and vendors.
8. Cultivate relationships with peers as a peer mentor.QUALIFICATIONS
Required Qualifications:

1. Minimum five years of mortgage loan underwriting experience.
2. Excellent Communication skills, both written and verbal, in relating to internal and external clients.
3. Demonstrates proficiency in basic computer applications, such as mortgage automated processing systems and Microsoft Office software products.
4. Ability to travel, occasionally overnight.Preferred Qualifications:
1. Bachelor's degree in Business or related field, or equivalent education and related training.
2. Basic knowledge of bank services and products.
3. Direct Endorsement and Staff Appraisal Reviewer Certifications.
4. FHA/VA/Bond Experience.
5. Jumbo, Wealth and Construction Experience.
