SUMMARY

$2,000 Bonus

Assign diagnosis and procedure codes and to inpatientMedical/Surgical cases and DRG payer medical records. Assign diagnosis andsurgical codes using ICD-9-CM/ ICD-10-CM codes in order to providebilling/reimbursement and statistical information. Ensure the accurateselection of the principal diagnosis and procedure and all other significantdiagnoses and procedures. Abstract hospital-defined data from records for datacollection purposes. Ensure compliance with official guidelines (ICD-9-CM,ICD-10-CM, Coding Clinic), AHIMA Standards of Ethical Coding and Tenetguidelines.

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS

MINIMUM EDUCATION: Certification, Associates Degree orBachelors Degree

MINIMUM EXPERIENCE: 2 - 5 years coding experience

REQUIRED CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSURE: RHIA, RHIT, CCS, or CIC

SPECIAL SKILLS: The interpersonal skills necessary tointeract with all levels of department personnel, other departments, physiciansand individuals from outside the Hospital. Must be able to demonstrateproficiency in inpatient and/or outpatient coding. Must be able to use standardoffice equipment and information systems. Ability to interact with otheremployees through effective communication. Ability to prioritize and shiftworkloads to ensure departmental goals for revenue cycle goals.
