Serves as a consultant on statistical methodologies on improvement and research projects. Prepares and analyzes data using appropriate techniques. Assists project teams to interpret and disseminate. Provides expertise to ongoing measurement, and research projects in achieving improved patient experience, improved patient health, and reduced healthcare costs.

Provides consultation on project design, statistical methodology, and statistical analyses to providers, leadership, researchers, and others on data analysis and/or research projects. This includes determining analytical methodologies, appropriate statistical sampling, statistical data interpretations, and reporting format and content. Reviews and approves methods and tools for data collection. May write and review grant applications and submissions.

Develops and provides data, graphics, and/or documentation for providers, leadership, researchers, and others to facilitate analysis, interpretation, and appropriate reporting of projects within established schedules/timelines. Assists the project team to interpret statistical findings, implications, and limitations.

Selects and applies appropriate statistical techniques to analyze clinical and/or other related data.

Develops statistical clinical models.

Contributes to project dissemination efforts. This includes writing, reviewing, and presenting drafts of reports, posters, and manuscripts as well as creating graphics and tables.

Develops and implements strategies as well as document and maintain consistent procedures for data processing, validation, and evaluation. Ensures data quality for documentation and dissemination.

Assembles, merges, and transforms data from multiple sources and prepares it for statistical analysis. May develop programs to extract data from data sources. Advises data collectors and providers on techniques for recording data that best facilitates statistical analysis.

Keeps abreast of and adapts to changing statistical methodologies and analytic methods and applies new skills to future projects. Shares knowledge with peers and mentors biostatisticians.

Degrees

Master’s Degree (or equivalent knowledge) in Statistics or related field.

Required Functional Experience

Typically requires 5 years of experience in statistics/biostatistics in areas of epidemiology and/or medical informatics.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

Must be proficient in the use of Microsoft Office (Excel, Access, PowerPoint and Word) or similar products.Demonstrated thorough understanding of database design and management. Full knowledge of all phases of applications systems analysis and programming.Demonstrated ability to conduct power analyses and determine sample sizes.Strong knowledge of SAS, SPSS, R, or other statistical software packages.Must have excellent communication skills to effectively interact with internal and external stakeholders.Ability to manage project responsibilities independently as well as within defined scopes and timelines.Strong organizational skills and the ability to work on multiple tasks of various scope simultaneously.Must have ability to bridge the gap between the clinical problem and statistical formulation.Ability to effectively return to a project after long intervals by leveraging organizational and documentation skills.
