The Manager - Operations Reporting is responsible managing Data, Reporting & Analytics team whose mission is to enable faster, optimized decisions for the entire business. We do this by collaboratively designing and implementing solutions to cross-functional business problems. We focus on data, reporting, and analytical solutions, and we facilitate data- and Business Intelligence (BI)-related process design, documentation, training, and governance. We aspire to faster data discovery and time-to-insight by creating a widely shared understanding of all data assets. We see this role as a catalyst for unlocking efficiency, speed, and greater value in analytical workstreams by deploying an active, responsive, and resilient data governance model

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Design, evangelize, and implement an Operations master data and metadata strategy roadmap for active data governance over data assets across all domains and platforms
  • Collaboratively develop and implement governance policies and processes that balance centralized control and standardization with decentralized speed and flexibility
  • Quantify and communicate the value of master data and metadata
  • Oversee implementation and ongoing administration of a modern metadata system
  • Evaluate, monitor, maintain, communicate data quality status across assets
  • Effectively lead cross functional data governance/steward committees
  • Guide consolidation of a fragmented landscape of data assets
  • Define and oversee development of robust data audits to flag and communicate data quality issues - and create closed loop businesses process to resolve them.
  • Partner with business & IT to identify and facilitate quick resolution of data quality issues
  • Ensure processes incorporate sufficient data quality validation within test plans; participate in the testing process, as needed
  • Identify opportunities for process improvement and increased automation to drive efficiencies - prepare justification and provides leadership to help implement
  • Lead the intraday planning process for Operations, create intraday forecast distributions, compare requirements against available staffing and initiate short term staffing actions to meet service level goals
  • Work closely with business leaders to ensure you understand the uniqueness of Units and the impacts the Data, Claims and Customer care teams have on each other and the business, directly impacting our business' operational success and growth
  • Lead the analysis and participate in the monthly and weekly operations reviews
  • Support big-picture thinking across digital/data-related projects. The focus here is to ensure digital transformation is taking-place and putting a product-management lens (bringing many teams together) on projects that might otherwise be a bit siloed
  • Be a catalyst for change and support digital transformation and data-first decision-making across the organization
  • Be a partner for strategic innovation, helping other teams see the blueprint and working closely with them as they innovate
  • Partner with UHC Tech & vendor strategic partners on innovation projects
  • Create a culture of innovation that synchronizes with business data strategy

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Business Administration or related experience
  • 3+ years of management experience in IMS, Data Reporting or Analytics with direct & indirect reports
  • 7+ years process and/or project management, consulting, or related business experience with knowledge of process management/improvement methodologies
  • Knowledge of full-spectrum data management and enabling technologies
  • Program management experience, ideally with experience overseeing large IT projects
  • Integrity, grit, and a passion for UHG's mission & Values
  • Experience with modern data and BI tools/technologies
  • Experience with data transformation/modeling and visualization languages/tools
  • Solid SQL skills
  • Experience leading a team to a shared goal
  • Ability to work non-traditional hours, in non-traditional settings. This includes weekends, evenings and holidays
  • Ability to identify and differentiate critical technologies from those that provide little benefit or value to the Company
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule, covering 24/7 operations
  • Ability to understand and communicate variances to operations, which include but are not limited to: finances, operational efficiency, productivity, and/or customer service issues.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master's degree. This may include MBA, MS-Analytics, MS-CS, MS-Data Science etc.
  • Experience as a strategic, cross-functional partner and demonstrate on an ongoing basis the UHG's core values
  • Solid strategic planning capabilities and ability to understand industry trends, competitor or future competitor's strategies and product roadmaps
  • A good attitude and humility - candidate should be comfortable working in a lean environment
