An Identity and Access Management (IAM) Principal Information Security Engineer is responsible for serving as Lead Engineer and Subject Matter Expert (SME) for access provisioning, governance, and administrative needs across the core organization and its acquired entities. This role will advise and consult organizational Business/IT teams and leadership on Identity Governance and Administration (IGA) strategy, solutions and best practices based on corporate standards and IAM industry trends. The selected candidate will work on leading and expanding the adoption of corporate standard IGA solutions including on-prem and cloud IGA products such as SailPoint’s IdentityIQ and IdentityNOW. The candidate will promote a centralized access management architecture across complex organizations within UHG as well as present automation of provisioning and governance for current and newly integrated applications, servers, databases, etc. Oversee internal or external systems security (i.e., cloud services). Ensure that business partners and employees have the right access to the right systems at the right times for the right reasons.

Major Responsibilities

  • Act in a strategic capacity as the most senior technical expert for all Identity Governance and Administration (IGA) technologies, tools and processes across the organization for both on-prem and cloud-based solutions
  • Design and configure access management solutions based on industry best practices
  • Develop and direct IAM teams in investigation and resolution of complex privacy, security, and access management problems
  • Provide input to the IAM capability roadmap and strategy
  • Align with Privileged Access and Identity Management (PAM/PIM) activities
  • Serve as a Team Lead and a Subject Matter Expert (SME) for application security access provisioning solutions
  • Work with Business as well as IT teams to gather information necessary to determine the appropriate method for access provisioning and influence the adoption of our centralized access management provisioning and governing solutions across the organization and Business Partners/Acquired Entities (A/Es)
  • Serve as a leader/ mentor within the Enterprise Access Management group
  • Review work of others

  • Qualifications 

  • 5 or more years of Identity & Access Management (IAM) & Identity Governance & Administration (IGA) experience
  • 5 or more years of Identity & Access Management (IAM) experience with access administration and governing tools such as SailPoint’s IdentityIQ (IIQ), IdentityNOW, or equivalent tool experience
  • 2 or more years of team lead or management experience
  • 1 or more years of IGA product delivery or implementation experience 
  • If you need to enter a work site for any reason, you will be required to screen for symptoms using the ProtectWell mobile app, Interactive Voice Response (i.e., entering your symptoms via phone system) or a similar UnitedHealth Group-approved symptom screener. Employees must comply with any state and local masking orders.   • Asset

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science OR Associate’s Degree and 2 years of equivalent experience OR High School Diploma and 5 years of equivalent experience
  • Prior experience with cloud service providers such as Azure and AWS
  • Project Management experience
  • Healthcare Industry experience
  • CISSP, CISM, or CISA certification
  • Relational database experience
