Configures Routers and switches, and firewalls for LAN and WAN systems and VPN concentrators with appropriate network engineering and communications protocols. Coordinates LAN/WAN hardware/software improvements and/or enhancements. Monitors the network utilizing industry leading technologies. Provides innovative methods and technical solutions using the engineering design process. Plans implementation of enhancements.*.*Required Specialized Skills:*.*Analyzes customer requirements and provides technical solutions to a wide range of difficult problems.*.*Performs maintenance and upgrade of networks including servers, routers, switches, remote access systems, and wireless networks.*.*Maintains network integrity and connectivity while ensuring compliance with policies and maintains system backup and recovery capability.*.*Creates plans and configures systems for data communication networks.*.*Evaluates new communications technologies to enhance capabilities of the network.*.*Maintains current knowledge of relevant technology as assigned.*.*Designs and builds the hardware and software components for computer or telecommunications networks.*.*Additional Duties:*.*Contributes to completion of specific engineering programs and projects.*.*Develops solutions to a variety of complex engineering problems of moderate scope and complexity.*.*Performs complex systems design, development, and integration from the start of a systems life cycle to the end.*.*Oversight of complex infrastructure including installing, configuring, testing and maintaining operating systems, application software, and system management tools.*.*Performs complex systems modeling, simulation, and analysis.*.*Performs continual maintenance and provides complex solutions for security, backup and redundancy problems.*.*Prepares and maintains a range of documentation for processes and procedures related to engineering projects.*.*May provide guidance to less-experienced Systems Engineers.*.*Maintains current knowledge of rapidly changing technology.*.*May coach and review the work of less-experienced professionals.*.*Five or m*.*o*.*re years ' experience working with one or more technologies*.*:*.*Juniper/Cisco*.*InfoBlox/OpenGear*.*Riverbed/QRadar/F5*.*Desired Qualification:*.*BA/BS (or equivalent experience) and*.*5+ years of experience* We are GDIT.
