OVERVIEW

:

The online classroom teacher will lead students toward the fulfillment of their potential by translating the district curriculum standards and objectives into meaningful learning experiences through classroom instruction and indirectly through special area assignments. The teacher is responsible for maintaining a positive and appropriate educational environment and creating a program that meets the intellectual and emotional needs of all students. This position requires the instructor to work on-site eight hours daily and is funded for one year.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Holds a valid Arizona Teaching Certificate 
  • Demonstrates knowledge of related subject matter and grade level competencies, instructional skills, remote learning strategies, and online resource materials
  • Utilizes a variety of effective technology-based instructional and management techniques.
  • Ability to develop and maintain cooperative and effective professional relationships with teachers, administrators, and parents
  • Ability to develop and maintain appropriate student-teacher relationships in the remote setting
  • Ability to effectively communicate (verbal and written) with students, parents, and staff at all levels
  • Ability to effectively utilize a variety of technology (i.e. Canvas, MDLP LMS, Synergy, Webex, Google Suite) tools and online resources
  • Able to adjust to changes in scheduling and responsibilities
  • DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Demonstrates knowledge of related subject matter, instructional skills and resource materials
  • Utilizes a variety of effective online instructional and management techniques, including small group/whole class/one-on-one instruction
  • Considers the individual learning needs and abilities of students, as well as program and district learning goals, in preparation and utilization of lesson plans, instructional materials, and assessment documents
  • Utilizes district-adopted resources and curriculum guides in instructional planning and implementation
  • Augments course content in the form of remediation, modification, and enrichment 
  • Uses available technology or instructional media to enhance the students’ learning experiences
  • Models and monitors digital citizenship, including academic integrity
  • Determine the appropriate balance of synchronous and asynchronous learning opportunities based on student strengths and needs
  • Continuously and accurately collects student achievement data using a variety of tools (e.g., tests, projects, demonstrations, checklists), and uses this information to diagnose, instruct and evaluate specific student needs to positively impact student achievement
  • Helps students learn self-regulation skills by modeling to the students how to review progress using tools available in the learning management system
  • Establishes, supports, and administers a positive and safe classroom environment using standard operating procedures and norms in accordance with regulations
  • Establishes positive and appropriate relationships with students and maintains open lines of communication using a variety of strategies (phone calls, web conferencing, in person conferences, e-mail, virtual lab/office hours) with students and parents concerning academic and behavioral progress
  • Evaluates student performance on a regular basis and provide feedback to students and parents
  • Works with parents and school personnel representatives to provide an appropriate education for each student
  • Produces, utilizes, and maintains student records that relate to student achievement, attendance and discipline
  • Takes an active role in establishing and supporting school goals and resolving school concerns
  • Communicates an expectation of success for all students
  • Participates on IEP/504 teams for students with special needs and implements and monitors IEP/504 goal progress
  • Supports students and parents with the set-up and maintenance of their learning environment including basic computer troubleshooting and technical support requests relating to the course interface and student information systems
  • PROFESSIONAL STANDARDS:

  • Adheres to established federal and state laws, board policies and regulations, and district procedures; supports the mission statement of the district and school.
  • Adheres to the Statement of Awareness/Understanding adopted by the MUSD Governing Board, and complies with the Meet and Confer Agreement

  • Appropriately communicates and interacts with other staff in academic planning and school committee work
  • Attends and participates in staff meetings and extra-curricular/school-related activities and committees
  • Demonstrates a commitment to continuous professional growth
  • Maintains a professional appearance and demonstrates behavior that is conscientious and responsible
