The UnitedHealth Group (UHG) Identity Leader is a newly created role to consolidate responsibility or the overall identity strategy and delivery within UHG. This is a critical role for us as patients, members, and providers use our identity solutions millions of times per day when interacting across the different UHG businesses. Identity covers a large scope including: Identity Proofing, Digital Credentials, Third Party Credentials, Identity Exchange, Matching (Including MDM and Stewardship), as well as deep security topics related to all of the above areas. Further, we need to handle those different capabilities across a number of different ecosystems and business models (b2b, b2c, b2b2c, etc). The individual that holds this role will have a rare combination of Engineering Leadership, Security, Reliability (5 9's), Scalability (X,000's TPS) and a background in internet scale identity and authentication.

They will be responsible for:

  • Combining different authentication systems handling different pieces of the puzzle

  • Creating consumption patterns of identity and authentication for our businesses, developers, and analytics teams

  • Owns the full stack: from infrastructure and API's to consumer identity experience
  • Own the security stack to ensure we remove all chances of compromised credentials, user integrity issues, and other attacks
  • Owns the "strong" multi-factor and other future authentication strategies
  • Owns the infrastructure and application architecture required for maintaining 99.999% availability of our authentication services
  • Owns the scalability of our solutions to ensure we support extreme scalability in the range of thousands of transactions per second across our systems

  • Owns the thought leadership for educating the rest of the organization on how to move our customer experiences forward into better solutions
  • Develop deep relationships with our respective CIO and CTO organizations to ensure alignment of applications towards our identity goals
  • Provide thought leadership and use established global intelligence networks, to drive superior security and threat detection capabilities
  • Review current and emerging technical matters to identify product, customer, and full stack technology impacts
  • Act as an internal evangelist for engineering across the business and corporate function leaders
  • Be a talent magnet for this function across the business, helping to elevate the quality of engineering

You'll be rewarded and recognized for your performance in an environment that will challenge you and give you clear direction on what it takes to succeed in your role as well as provide development for other roles you may be interested in.
