We are seeking a Principal Workforce Strategy Consultant PSJH to manage the day-to-day operations of system workforce management programs. This position initiates and oversees high-visibility projects that articulate the future workforce (quantify the Roles and skill sets required) impact labor productivity and delivers analytics and project insights to various executives.

This role will serve as the primary Workforce Strategy Consultant for several business lines throughout the system, acting as both a solutions architect taking caregiver/client inputs to drive solutions that support WF&A's overall vision and goals as well as supporting Providence St Joseph Health's strategic goals related to implementing solutions across workforce planning and analysis, and championing business transformation.

Working to support directly the focus of the regional/ministry leader or field leader to build solutions that will solve organizational issues that align with the capability and strategy of the regional/ministry expectations or needs. This individual will drive strategic solutions working with the Workforce Strategy & Analytics team to ensure successful development and implementation, operating as a subject matter expert.

In this position you will have the following responsibilities:

  • Build strong internal customer relationships with business leaders, acting as an internal consultant to define and achieve strategic business and workforce objectives.

  • Develop and manage a future workforce planning process that articulates strategic, tactical and financial goals, plans and dependencies. Integrates planning process across key enterprise stakeholders to increase efficiency and effectiveness.

  • Review, update, and improve workforce planning methods to provide reliable, consistent forecast and plan data. Leads analysis of relevant workforce metrics, uncover trends in the data and makes recommendations to improve business conditions.

  • Use a standardized and nuanced build-up approach to department level staffing based on analytical modeling using uniquely distinct inputs.

  • Ensure build-up methodology includes a total cost perspective as well as skill mix appropriateness to ensure that caregivers are practicing at top of license.

  • Engage with existing operations councils, regional finance and nursing groups, and other invested parties on a continuous feedback loop to ensure cohesiveness and inclusion.

  • Support strategic planning through a clear understanding of how labor resources will be affected by pulling certain levers.

  • Assist operations leaders with workforce performance improvement projects as identified through resource requirements.

  • Develops informative presentations for senior leadership and the executive team, effectively communicating complex concepts, data and quantitative plans, with a high degree of simplicity.

  • Communicates and explains methodology of programs with leaders.

  • Establishes strong cross-functional relationships to connect across system-wide workforce initiatives, like Predictive Hiring, Integrated Resource Centers and Geographic Float Pools.

  • Partners with the workforce intelligence team to perform analysis of relevant metrics (i.e., turnover, internal movement, diversity), identifying and communicating trends and insights that could impact or inform business-unit and/or system-level workforce planning.

  • Demonstrates ability to clearly and concisely communicate complex information to a variety of audiences and mediums.

  • Qualifications:

    Required qualifications for this position include:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Business Management, Industrial Engineering, Finance, Economics/commerce, healthcare management or a related field or 4 additional years of related experience in lieu of degree.

  • 8 years recent experience related to workforce planning, analytics, consulting, strategy or finance preferably in a healthcare environment.

  • 5 years experience with handling data and modeling in Excel.

  • Preferred qualifications for this position include:

  • Master's Degree in Business Management, Industrial Engineering, Finance, Economics/commerce, healthcare management or a related field.

  • 2 years prior experience with data visualization software, including Visier, Microsoft Power BI and Tableau.

  • 2 years experience working in dynamic, complex organization within a transforming industry.

  • 4 years experience working in a union environment.

  • 3 years experience working as a Management or Strategy consultant.

  • 3 years experience working in workforce management.
