Job Overview:
IQVIA seeks an experienced attorney to lead IQVIA’s global licensing programs for proprietary information, analytics, technology and other intellectual property. This position will be responsible for advancing IQVIA licensing programs to support commercial objectives and protect IQVIA intellectual property. The person in this role will work closely with talented attorneys and commercial colleagues around the globe in a collegial environment that rewards, recognizes and respects achievement. Reports to the Chief Intellectual Property Counsel.

Responsibilities:
• Develop and drive global licensing strategies and programs for proprietary information, analytics, technology and other intellectual property to achieve commercial and legal objectives.
• Develop and rollout policies, guidelines, templates, communications, training and metrics in connection with these programs to ensure licensing programs are effective.
• Advise IQVIA legal and commercial colleagues on licensing strategies, models and contract terms relating to licensing in support of a wide variety of business activities, including market research, software licensing, professional services, artificial intelligence and machine learning, clinical research trials, commercial and strategic partnerships, product and software development and distribution agreements.
• Continuously evaluate licensing strategies and results, identifying trends and opportunities and updating our licensing strategies and programs accordingly.
• Develop strategic relationships and actively engage key stakeholders within IQVIA’s commercial business units and corporate organizations (e.g., research & development, marketing, sales, human resources, legal and compliance) on licensing issues important to IQVIA.
• Oversee outside counsel in connection with licensing and other matters relating to IQVIA’s intellectual property programs and activities.
• Advise on inbound IP asset transfers from newly acquired businesses.
• Support other intellectual property protection programs as needed.
• Help educate and train employees on key licensing and IP protection issues. 

Preferred Qualifications:
• Minimum 8 years of transactional experience acquired in law firm and/or in-house environments, developing and negotiating software, technology and data licensing agreements. Candidates with significantly more experience highly desired.
• Experience developing and implementing licensing and IP protection strategies and licensing programs.
• Experience with big data, analytics and secondary uses of healthcare data a plus.
• 2+ years of broad-based intellectual property protection experience covering a combination of patents, trademarks, copyrights and trade secrets at a law firm or as in-house counsel is a plus. 
• Recognized by colleagues for integrity and reliability.
• Ability to prioritize and balance competing issues and direct resources accordingly.
• Strong critical thinking and problem solving skills; ability to understand complex topics and identify critical issues in a timely manner.
• Strong work ethic and results-oriented.
• Driven by intellectual curiosity and an eagerness to learn.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills with a strong attention to detail.
• Strong relationship building skills.
• Bachelor's degree and law degree from an accredited school required; advanced education or an advanced degree a plus.
