Planned Parenthood of Greater New York is seeking a Payroll Supervisor. This full-time position may be located anywhere in New York State and is eligible for a remote work arrangement. The target compensation range for this position is $60,000 to $85,000 depending in geographic location.The Payroll Supervisor oversees and manages the payroll function and all related processes to ensure pay and payroll-related benefits are processed accurately, timely and in compliance with federal, state, and local requirements, as well as company policy and collective bargaining agreements. The individual in this role acts as a first line resource for questions regarding wage and hour practices, paid time off and other benefit accruals, deductions for health and retirement benefits, wage garnishments, and tax withholdings. The Payroll Supervisor may own or oversee the implementation of department or organization-wide strategic initiatives related to compensation.This is an exciting and important time at Planned Parenthood of Greater New York. What the Payroll Supervisor does:

  • Payroll Operations (65%)
  • Implements, maintains, and reviews payroll processing systems to ensure timely and accurate processing of payroll transactions including salaries, benefits, garnishments, taxes, and other deductions
  • Processes payroll changes including new hires, separations, promotions, FTE changes, merit increases, and other compensation adjustments
  • Supports processes related to reimbursement to the organization from benefit carriers
  • Timely and accurately transmits payments to benefit vendors, unions, and other third parties as required by law or contract
  • Provides input on the development of payroll policies and procedures and acts as a frontline resource to staff on questions of payroll policy interpretation
  • Builds and maintains collaborative relationships with the Human Resources team, managers, and staff to ensure the timely communication of relevant payroll information and documentation
  • HRIS Administration (20%)
  • Oversees the status change process in the HRIS, including changes to job titles, reporting structures, and leave statuses
  • Supports department and organizational initiatives, including performance management, benefits open enrollment, staffing, and credentialing, by assisting with building out processes and data streams in the HRIS
  • Submits audits and organizational reporting need by managing internal and external stakeholder requests for information
  • Monitors adherence to payroll policies and procedures and escalates issues as appropriate
  • HR Operations (15%)
  • In collaboration with the Human Resource Director, support the development and delivery of effective performance management tools, including periodic performance appraisal systems
  • May develop and deliver training to managers and staff on payroll and wage and hour expectations and organizational policies
  • Participates in onboarding programs, including the orientation and training of new hires
  • Assists will department and organizational Human Resources initiatives as assigned or requested

  • Required qualifications

  • Associate’s degree in business administration, human resources, human services, accounting, finance, or a related field
  • 3+ years of experience in a direct payroll role that includes responsibility for preparing and submitting payroll
  • Knowledge of federal, state, and local wage and hour and tax laws and regulations in jurisdictions where the organization operates or employs staff
  • Preferred Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience in a payroll supervisor or payroll manager role
  • 1+ years of experience running payroll using ADP
  • 1+ years of hands-on experience building and managing processes in an HRIS
  • 1+ experience managing payroll in a union environment
