Overview

The Senior Category Strategy and Optimization Sourcing Manager will be an integral part of the Global Business Services Strategic Sourcing and Strategy Team and will be responsible for driving global sourcing activities across multiple categories within Intuit’s value chain. Primary responsibilities include category strategy, end-end sourcing, category and partner management across multiple Services categories.

This role will serve as a strategic leader and thought partner that will report into the Category Strategy and Optimization Leader. The role will be responsible for identifying and working on key projects that address strategy, roadmaps, optimization opportunities. The role is also responsible for building and managing relationships with key suppliers and internal Intuit business owners. Responsibilities include developing global sourcing strategies, driving cost savings initiatives, negotiation, and contract management. Another key responsibility includes identifying and impacting process efficiencies and supporting growth strategies within the supported departments.

This role also requires the development and execution of sourcing strategies, with an equal emphasis placed on strategy and execution including the ability to identify, analyze, and quantify opportunities as well as the ability to manage RFI and RFPs and handle vendor negotiations. This role will be tasked with performing data analysis, insights gathering, and presenting insights to leadership on key strategic growth and optimization opportunities. The role is expected to lead with data and perform data analysis that lead to actionable insights and long term strategic plans.

What you'll bring

  • Relevant industry or category experience
  • Prior experience analyzing large data sets, spend cubes, workflow process cycle times and identifying bottlenecks
  • 5-10 years of strategic sourcing or consulting experience (e.g., developing category strategies, running RFI/RFQ/RFP, reverse auctions, interests-based direct negotiations)
  • Experience with ERP and Source-to-Pay tools
  • Experience in team environments and negotiating with internal and external stakeholders
  • Experience developing and/or presenting business cases, category strategy
  • Comfort with creating and presenting content for executives
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business or other quantitative discipline. MBA degree a plus.
  • Experience in contract development, administration, and/or management
  • Experience managing multiple simultaneous projects in a fast-paced environment
  • Experience in negotiating deals with global vendors
  • Experience managing global vendor relationships
  • Experience in managing transformational projects that require high-level of change management
  • Solid financial and/or quantitative modeling
  • Attention to detail and ability to analyze complex data

  • Drive key category strategy and optimization opportunities across all of Product, Marketing, and Services categories
  • Develop plans to achieve team’s strategic priorities, goals and objectives
  • Proactively identify levers, opportunities for optimization and develop and drive roadmaps and implementation plans
  • Proactively build relationships with and influences internal and external stakeholders
  • Partner with Global Souring team to implement global suppliers, category
  • Demonstrate and practice a high degree of professional integrity and ethical responsibility in all business activities
  • Perform market research, competitor analysis to stay informed on industry innovation and bring ideas that will help the company re-imagine and leap frog ahead resulting in advancements in technologies, process methodologies or establishing supplier alliances

  • Conduct opportunity assessment with the right balance of strategic insights (spend, supplier, category, contract) and current state illustration to drive senior stakeholder engagement
  • Evaluate and recommend strategic opportunities/initiatives to Strategic Sourcing leadership utilizing current and emerging business models, assessing short-term and long-term industry and strategic considerations
  • Develop key content and approach to present and obtain sponsorship from senior leadership
  • Conduct opportunity assessment with or without support of Strategic Sourcing Analyst
  • Develop insights and optimization opportunities on E2E operational setup of GBS
  • Strategic Sourcing Process Execution and Project Management

  • Lead with data. Use data to understand, interpret requirements, capabilities, inefficiencies and develop strategic plans to address gaps
  • Provide category expertise and leverage understanding of supplier capabilities, product and services, and formulate category strategy and 1 & 3 year plans
  • Determine and execute appropriate sourcing process, bidding approach, negotiations, and governance mechanisms
  • Understand Sourcing E2E process workflow and determine right
  • Drive project activity across large cross-functional teams involving multiple stakeholders
  • Be comfortable dealing with Director and C-level executives
  • Define data needed to meet objectives and develop an effective plan for gathering it (including spend, contracts, supplier information, stakeholder insights, current state process & tools)
  • Utilize analysis to solve business problems. Draw insights that are not immediately obvious
  • Gather, analyze, and document requirements, leverage use cases to better understand business needs and select right-fit third party
  • Lead and Manage RFI/RFQ/RFPs from start to finish, which includes creation, issuance, and facilitation of the entire process, through vendor evaluations and vendor selection
  • Direct the negotiation of highly complex, enterprise-wide, strategic supplier partners
  • Manage issues & risks and communicate to management. Consult with senior management and project management experts as needed. Facilitate communication between project team and stakeholders
  • Drive consensus across critical business decisions that are complex and high impact to the organization
  • Create supporting documentation to applicable standards such that the value generated can be included in executive-level presentations
  • Lead projects that drive price reduction, optimized demand, vendor consolidation and process improvement
  • Knowledge and real-time experience with Coupa, Oracle or other Sourcing/Procurement tools a huge plus
  • Continuous Improvement and Supplier Management

  • Partner with stakeholders to review ongoing vendor segmentation and identify strategic vendors to be included in vendor management programs
  • Perform assigned vendor management activities (business reviews, scorecard reviews, discussions) in alignment with client teams
  • Manages supplier performance monitoring and measurement and work with vendor owners on key escalations or remediations
  • Identify improvement opportunities with key vendors and focus areas that drive continuous improvement across KPIs and pushes innovation
