Position description

This is a fulltime telework position within the United States.

The Application Portfolio Management Team within Mayo IT Shared Services is seeking a skilled and motivated IT Application Architect to assist in evaluating enterprise-wide department technology portfolios through application and business architecture best practices. This position would require both application and business architecture experience as there is a need to analyze the detailed technical components of applications within a portfolio, and also understand how these align with the organization’s strategy and vision. The IT Application Architect will be a key role in the data analysis, rationalization and architecture alignment of large application portfolios across the Mayo Clinic enterprise. This analysis and output will serve our customers in understanding their current technology, business needs and gaps and how a technology roadmap can help to address their future needs. The position would assist in ensuring the application portfolio and technology roadmap are cohesive and sustainable. This includes the following activities:

  • Lead department discussions that will generate capability modeling and health assessment outputs

  • Documenting past, present, and future applications deployed, or planned to be, inside a department

  • Organizing applications according to business capabilities

  • Arranging IT components into technology stacks

  • Assist in grading the technical and functional value of applications

  • Assist in cost data analysis of individual and groups of applications

  • Due to the growing demand to reach more customers and the complexity of the work and collaboration needed across multiple teams, applicants must have a broad technical knowledge of IT systems and the ability to align with business goals and strategies. Additional skills include strong analytical skills, highly organized, ability to work independently in an ambiguous environment, attention to detail, and process improvement oriented. Candidate should have experience with the ServiceNow platform and some familiarity to the functionality offered within the IT Business Management suite.

    Works in partnership with technical architects to ensure that IT solutions are complete, integrated, and in alignment with Mayo Clinic's strategy and technology roadmap. Monitors industry features and standards in order to provide input to both IT and Mayo Clinic strategy. Analyzes the overall enterprise architecture and compares it against industry standards and trends to proactively identify opportunities for new and better solutions in Information Technology.

    Understands and documents core business processes and translates them into data flows between and outside of IT systems. Fosters and creates partnerships with the clinical and business area to develop a solid knowledge base of the business area. Understands business strategy and designs the target business architecture based on industry standards.
    Works in partnership with technical architects to ensure that IT solutions are complete, integrated, and in alignment with Mayo Clinic's strategy and technology roadmap. Obtains and communicates information pertinent to the selection of the appropriate mix of projects and programs to support business objectives.
    Provides input to managers for operational and strategic planning needs.
    Interfaces routinely with colleagues who may be located at any of the Mayo Group practices to perform job responsibilities requiring virtual collaboration and partnership.

    Qualifications
    Master’s Degree with 6 years’ experience OR Bachelor Degree with 8 years’ experience. Experience to include demonstration of the following areas: operations analysis, information systems implementation, system architecture, and systems analysis.

    Compensation Detail
    Required education, experience, and tenure may be considered along with internal equity when job offers are extended. The salary range every 2 weeks is approx. $3,854.40-$5,396.00 based on a full-time position.
