Summarized Purpose:

Ensures proper support and maintenance for interactive phone and web related systems designed and developed by the department. Retains line management responsibility for support team.

Essential Functions

  • Manages staff, which may include interviewing and selection, job description preparation, professional development, goal setting, performance management, behavioral and technical coaching and mentoring, employee counseling, and separations. Approves courses of action on salary administration, hiring, corrective action, and terminations. Reviews and approves time records, expense reports, requests for leave, and overtime. Assures department adherence to good ethical and regulatory standards.
  • Establishes and reviews system support metrics to monitor functional team and individual staff performance as well as study-specific trends.
  • Acts as the primary liaison between the client and IRT support for any support-related concerns once systems are in maintenance (e.g. timely data changes, etc.).
  • Resources staff to client deliverables and identifies the need for external technical staff as needed and evaluates shifting priorities and assignments to meet deadlines and deliver high quality work.
  • Creates and reviews ad hoc queries.
  • Ensures staff compliance with documented procedures and manages staff to established timelines and budgets.
  • Job Qualification

    Education and Experience:
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent and relevant formal academic / vocational qualification
  • Previous experience that provides the knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the job (comparable to 5+ years).
  • 1+ year of leadership responsibility
  • In some cases an equivalency, consisting of a combination of appropriate education, training and/or directly related experience, will be considered sufficient for an individual to meet the requirements of the role.

  • Demonstrated management and leadership skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills and proven ability to operate effectively in a team environment
  • Strong written and verbal communication and presentation skills
  • Strong organizational skills, time management, and problem solving skills with the ability to adapt and adjust to changing priorities and to manage multiple assignments with challenging/conflicting deadlines
  • Ability to attain, maintain and apply a working knowledge of GDP, GCP and applicable SOPs
  • Strong attention to detail and skill with numbers
  • Experience in identification and resolution of technical problems in a professional environment
  • Strong knowledge of relational database systems (RDBMS) and structures
  • Good working knowledge of SQL and/or PL/SQL
  • Evidence of mentoring skills as shown by leadership of multiple projects and team members

  • Management Role:
    Manages experienced professionals and / or subordinate management who exercise latitude and independence in their assignments. Often heads one or more sections or a small department.
