We are seeking an early-career, highly-motivated Business Assistant to join our team and play a pivotal role in supporting our executive team and keeping our growing company operations running smoothly. As a Business Assistant, you'll be at the forefront of supporting company-wide operations, managing budgets and global consultant payments, ensuring leadership is set up for success, and contributing to other critical initiatives and administrative tasks as they arise. Your responsibilities will encompass a wide range of duties, from maintaining office organization to conducting research, planning company events, and assisting in building and managing new systems. You will report to and serve as a deputy to the Business Lead.


Key Responsibilities & Qualifications


Key areas of responsibilities:

  • Support the Business Lead and together help advance company priorities
  • Provide comprehensive support to executives, including managing their schedules, coordinating meetings, preparing briefings for meetings, and drafting and handling correspondence
  • Manage financial tasks, including processing consultant payments, monitoring budgets, and assisting with financial reporting
  • Assist with various administrative tasks such as document preparation, data entry, running errands, and maintaining office supplies
  • Collaborate with colleagues, including the engineering team, to develop and implement new systems and processes to enhance efficiency and productivity
  • Maintain office organization and contribute to creating a positive work environment
  • Conduct research on industry trends, competitors, and potential business opportunities
  • Plan and coordinate company events, meetings, and activities for the team and Duco community
  • Handle miscellaneous tasks and projects as they arise, demonstrating flexibility and adaptability


While great candidates for this position could have many different professional backgrounds, the ideal candidates will have some combination of these experiences and attributes:


  • 1-3 years of experience (internships and academic leadership positions suffice)
  • Desire to learn, solve problems, and execute an array of simple to complex tasks
  • Strong organizational skills with a high attention to detail and the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines
  • Excellent written and verbal communication and interpersonal abilities, with a customer service-oriented approach
  • Proficiency in creating and managing spreadsheets and slide decks
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, demonstrating initiative and resourcefulness
  • Detail-oriented and growth mindset with a proactive attitude towards problem-solving
  • Interest or background in business, finance, computer science, emerging technology, policy, security, intelligence, consulting, the future of work, marketplaces, and/or international relations

Location & Hours

Duco's headquarters is in the Mission neighborhood in San Francisco, CA. We operate on a hybrid work model: all employees are required to work from the office two designated days per week and may work remotely the other days. Employees attend about three week-long offsites each year. Occasional travel and other in-person activities, conferences, trainings, etc., may be required. Regular hours of operation are 9am to 5pm PST, though employees will be required to work at other times as needed.


Compensation & Benefits

You will receive a generous combination of salary, bonus, stock options, and access to a 401k and FSA plan. Additionally, Duco offers to pay 100% of employees healthcare plan premiums, which include medical and dental. Approved vacation is unlimited. Duco is closed at least 15 days per year, including the day after Thanksgiving and the full week between Christmas and New Year's Day.


The base salary range for this full-time position is $70,000-$80,000 and will receive a bonus based on individual and company performance. Our salary ranges are determined by a variety of factors including the functions of the role, experience, and geographic location. The range displayed on the job posting indicated the minimum and maximum target for a new hire into this position. Within the stated range, individual pay will be determined by additional factors, including job-specific skills, professional experience, and relevant education or training. Please note that the compensation range listed above reflects only the base salary, and does not factor monetary value of bonus, equity, or benefits.
