We are currently looking for a Legal Counsel - Intellectual Property to work remotely (in our Madison, NJ office).

Job Summary:
The Legal Counsel - Intellectual Property should have knowledge and command of intellectual property law with a minimum of 3 years of experience at a law firm with a notable intellectual property practice, handling all phases of U.S. and international trademark clearance, prosecution and protection. Position will help oversee the maintenance of the Company's intellectual property portfolio, including trademarks, copyrights, patents and domains on a worldwide basis. Fast paced, collegial environment in which to handle a variety of legal issues in the real estate industry.

Key Task and Responsibilities:
1) Handle a wide variety of intellectual property matters, including domestic and international trademark prosecution, policing of brands and infringement issues.
 
2) Advise as to clearance, registration and enforcement of trademarks, copyrights and other intellectual property rights.
 
3) Oversee trademark cancellations and oppositions. Draft and review legal documents related to intellectual property matters.
 
4) Coordinate and work closely with members of various business divisions and other in-house and outside counsel on intellectual property issues.
 
6) Actively police trademark portfolio and send cease and desist letters as necessary.
 
Qualifications:

  • J.D. from accredited ABA law school, with NY or NJ Bar Admission required
  • Minimum 3 years experience in a role specializing in trademark law
  • International and domestic trademark prosecution & maintenance experience
  • Experience with USPTO eTEAS
  • Experience with copyright issues, domains and social media is strongly preferred
  • Excellent verbal and written communication and strong interpersonal skills
  • Detail-oriented, versatile, and able to work independently and autonomously with limited supervision; work well in a team environment; be able to multi-task & handle a large workload
  • Experience in general corporate and commercial matters a plus
  • Computer-literate & competent with online research tools & electronic databases; proficient in Microsoft Office; experience with CPI a plus

  • This position can be performed anywhere except Colorado.
