Regional EHS Manager-Central
Position is a WFH (work from home) opportunity. Candidate needs to be located in Chicagoland or Southeast Wisconsin area and able to commute into Northfield headquarters location along with local distribution branch or Manufacturing facilities when necessary.
Will include office, manufacturing, distribution and sterilization facilities. Will have direct oversight of EHS programs for manufacturing and distribution center located in: IL, WI, OK and MN. Will manage 2 EHS Specialists, who are responsible for manufacturing and distribution center locations in IN, IL, MO, TN, MI and OH. Responsible for leading implementation of safety and environmental programs, policies, management systems and strategies in support of all facilities in a geographic region. Identify applicable EHS regulations and risks and developing solutions to mitigate. Collaborate with operations, risk, quality, legal, and HR to implement acceptable systems in order to ensure compliance and mitigation solutions. Will provide support and guidance for the sterilization process at the Mexicali, Mexico location.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Implement safety & environmental strategies, policies, and practices to ensure compliance with legislation.
- Partner and lead facilities on all EHS regulatory issues and concerns. Facilitate accountability and oversite of EHS programs.
- Prepare reports, metrics, and communications related to EHS internally and to regulatory bodies when required.
- Identify, assess, prioritize, and reduce EHS risks and costs.
- Raise awareness of the impact of emerging issues whether legislative or best practice.
- Audit and report on performance to internal and external clients and regulatory bodies. Perform and direct EHS, ISO 14001 and Process Safety Management audits.
- Support facilities and team in conducting incident investigations, reporting, and workers compensation claim follow-ups.
- Support and assist in creation of uniform sterilization procedures to ensure compliance with state and federal regulations.
- Assist facilities with maintaining compliance with air permit requirements.
- Conduct EHS and specific regulatory training for all applicable employees.
- Implement administration of hazardous materials management and corporate responsibility programs.
- Management responsibilities include:
- Manage, develop, and coach professional employees on team OR non-professional employees through supervisors in manufacturing, distribution or office environments.
- Interpret and execute policies for departments and projects.
- Recommend and implement new policies or modifications to existing policies.
- Provide general guidelines and parameters for staff functioning.
- Hiring staff, recommending pay increases, performing performance reviews, training and development of staff, estimating personnel needs, assigning work, meeting completion dates, interpreting and ensuring consistent application of organizational policies.
Education - Bachelor%26rsquo;s Degree in Safety, Environmental Health, Business or a related field.
Work Experience - At least 4 years of experience in Environmental, Health, and Safety.
- At least 2 years of audit, compliance and training experience with a focus on OSHA, USDOT, NFPA, ISO and EPA standards.
Knowledge / Skills / Abilities - Experience in the application of EHS management systems.
- Experience with project management (for example: planning, organizing, and managing resources to bring about the successful completion of specific project goals and objectives).
- Experience working with cross-functional teams and facilitating teams to identify and implement solutions to complex problems.
- Experience and skills in influencing, leading and directing individuals in multiple functional areas without direct oversight.
- Advanced level skill in Microsoft Office
- Position requires travel up to 40% of the time for business purposes (within state and out of state along with some travel to Mexico).
PREFERRED JOB REQUIREMENTS - Current First Aid, CPR, Bloodborne Pathogens and/or AED certification.
- EHS related training/certifications (OSHA 10hr, OSHA 30hr, ASP, CSP, CIH).
- Experience applying Safety and Environmental Regulations and Compliance management.
- ISO 14001 Certified Auditor or ISO 14001 experience
- Experience working with product sterilization facilities.
- Experience managing environmental permits such as air permits.
- Experience with process safety management.
- Bilingual in English and Spanish.
