Position Overview

The Interoperability Developer is responsible for designing, developing, maintaining, and troubleshooting interfaces to information systems developed by or supported by OCHIN. These interfaces include, but are not limited to the following: laboratory, immunization registry, billing systems, pharmacy systems, dental systems, HIEs, and other EHR's. There will be a significant amount of work that comes from navigating Epic system's databases and working directly with our Membership, vendors, and internal stakeholders.

Essential Duties

  • Develop technical and business process documentation for interfaces.
  • Develop functional requirements and interfaces.
  • Enhance and maintain existing interfaces.
  • Act as technical SME on all interface projects and be able to multi-task in a fast-paced environment.
  • Work on cross-team project with multiple internal and external stakeholders.
  • Configure Epic Bridges interfaces.
  • Participate in internal process improvement projects.
  • Participate in informal internal training as part of ongoing team improvement.
  • Provide technical support to OCHIN members (ticket-based support);
  • The ability to work effectively under pressure meeting deadlines, delivering superior results and keeping the focus on the customer and meeting their needs
  • The ability to generate new and creative ideas that shape new processes, cuts costs and improves the overall system that we are working in
  • The ability to demonstrate vision, courage, respect and accountability
  • The ability to solve problems and works as a collaborative team to meet member and organizational needs (strong analytical skills)
  • The ability to look for strengths in others to build productive partnerships
  • Has a passion for supporting and bettering the environment and communities in which they work
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Healthcare, Informatics, Information Technology or another related field.
  • Working knowledge of HL7standard.
  • Exposure to Mirth or another interface engine.
  • Working knowledge of Epic Cache API is desired.
  • Working knowledge of JavaScript knowledge desired.
  • Familiar with GitHubor another version control is desired.
  • Experience in healthcare industry or health information technology is desired.
  • Familiarity or exposure to Epic or other EMR/Health Information Systema plus.
  • Able to learn in a fast-paced, rapidly changing environment.
  • Being comfortable with self-directed learning.
  • Debugging, troubleshooting, and documenting skills.
  • Experience with Linux/Unix operating systems a plus.
  • Thorough knowledge of systems development methodologies including design, development, coding, testing and implementation (eg Agile, Scrum, XP)
  • Exposure to web service protocols (HTTPS, REST, SOAP, etc.) desired.
  • Strong communication and coordination skills desired
  • Desired Certifications or Proficiency:
    • Mirth certification
    • Epic specific: Bridges and Chronicles

Work Location and Travel Requirements

  • This position is 100% remote. Work from home requirements are:
    • Ability to work independently and efficiently from a home office environment
    • High Speed Internet Service
    • It is a requirement that employees work in a distraction free workplace
  • Travel may be required based on business requirements for OCHIN
