The Retirement Benefits Analyst will assist in the daily administration of the retirement plans, maintaining data integrity and providing ongoing support and education to meet the needs of our employees. This role will also have responsibility for supporting management on all plan interpretation matters ensuring the retirement programs remain competitive, innovative, compliant, and cost effective as well as providing ongoing support and education to meet the needs of NRG's employees.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate participant activity with respect to the administration of the 401(k) plan and defined benefit pension plans including reconciling and funding the weekly and biweekly 401(k) contributions and loans and the defined benefit contributions
  • Respond to retirement inquiries and issues, ensuring quick and compliant resolution
  • Gather, analyze, and report data as it pertains to enrollment, ad hoc or standard internal audits, and compliance checks
  • Maintain and produce monthly reports to assist Accounting with appropriate establishment of defined contribution benefit accruals, discretionary contributions, and true-up payments
  • Work with Senior Manager, Retirement to recommend operational and process improvements based on identified needs
  • Assist in implemented internal controls to ensure Retirement Team is effective, efficient, and service is of the highest quality
  • Assist with plan audit preparations and support
  • Analyze and resolve data discrepancies on retirement issues, including payroll related issues, in a timely manner
  • Work closely with vendors to provide educational opportunities on retirement planning and financial wellness
  • Maintain awareness of current trends in benefits
  • Support benefit projects and initiatives and perform other duties as assigned
  • Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
  • Excellent technical, analytical, and critical thinking skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite with an emphasis on Excel
  • General understanding of HR practices, laws, and regulations
  • Strong customer service and verbal and written skills
  • Must be detail-oriented and able to manage multiple projects simultaneously
  • Must be able to work with minimal supervision and adapt to changing priorities
  • Must manage time and priorities effectively by completing tasks in a timely manner
  • Required:

  • 3+ years of experience in human resource working in benefits or in payroll working with 401(k) funding 
  • Preferred:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Finance, Human Resources
