The Role:

We are transforming technology and creating a digital evolution that will empower Centene to better serve our members. As Project Lead Application Software Engineer you will implement and own end-to-end availability and reliability of our core cloud services. You will proactively work to design, build, test and maintain scalable and highly responsive custom microservice API technology solutions to meet the business needs of Centene Cloud Services.

As Project Lead Application Software Engineer, you will:

  • Responsible for the entire implementation process and drive definition of business needs.
  • Lead cross functional teams through the entire implementation process.
  • Responsible for overall solution design including building and testing.
  • Conduct root cause analysis and advanced performance tuning for complex business processes and functionality.
  • Identify, define and implement needed enhancements in the methods, standards and processes to better enable teams and constructive enterprise applications.
  • Design, build, test, and deploy cloud applications and REST APIs.
  • Contribute to the entire implementation process including driving the definition of improvements based on business need and architectural improvements.
  • Meet with architects and developers to plan, build and perform integration test API contracts and their implementations.
  • Conduct root cause analysis and advanced performance tuning for complex business processes and functionality.

  • Additionally you will bring:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, MIS, related field or equivalent experience.
  • 5+ years of related experience.
  • IT experience within managed care environment highly preferred.
  • Experience with Health Care applications development and design is preferred. 
  • Preferred Experience: 

  • Experience building REST API's using Node.JS
  • Experience automating deployments to cloud using CI/CD process
  • Good understanding of NoSQL concepts and architecture
  • Familiarity with modern design patterns around containers, Kubernetes, Event streaming, IaC, and some knowledge of either Amazon AWS or Microsoft Azure
  • Ability to articulate what a microservice is and what it’s architecture entails
  • Familiarity with common code vulnerabilities and how to mitigate them
  • Experience with git and Jenkins and some experience around CI/CD Pipeline tools like Gitlab or AWS CodePipeline or some other cloud deployment pipeline tool
  • Understanding of Agile, Scrum and DevOps methodologies
