The Opportunity

As our company continues to grow, we are seeking a Principal Cloud Security Engineer with AWS expertise for our Information Security team. Reporting into the Senior Manager of Information Security, this resource will have global responsibility for AWS cloud to develop, design, implement, and execute AWS best practices. You will partner with business units to understand business technology needs and craft implementation standards/blueprints to integrate security across all business technology use cases. The position will own the design and implementation of cloud-native architectures and systems that will allow the Information security and business requirements to be met with manageable risk and the appropriate security controls present. The Information Security Engineer must also have strong communication skills and the initiative to serve as the primary consultant to the enterprise business units, application, and technical teams. This position can be based in Raritan, NY, Rochester, NY, or Pencoed, Wales. Will also consider remote work options.

The Responsibilities

  • Architect, document, and implement Amazon Web Services best practices that are aligned with Ortho Clinical’s standards.

  • Establish technical security standards and processes from industry best practices and ensure they are applied to all projects and requests.

  • Effective project management skills and the ability to work on multiple concurrent projects without supervision.

  • Provide security architecture, solution architecting, engineering, and consulting services as needed for projects or one-off request to ensure the business and information security requirements are met.

  • Work with minimal supervision and be responsible for independently making a broad range of critical decisions.

  • Apply sound judgment, escalating issues and decisions to the appropriate executive when necessary.

  • Maintain skills and knowledge of industry security best practices and trends.

  • Periodic travel to the corporate offices.

  • Flexibility to periodically attend meetings from different time zones.

  • Perform other work duties as assigned.

  • The Individual

  • Bachelor’s Degree required, with a preference in Computer Science, Business, or related discipline.

  • AWS Certified Solution Architect Professional, AWS Security Specialist, and certification such as Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP) or other industry recognized information security credential are required.

  • Minimum of 5 years AWS experience required with hands-on implementing AWS Architecture, Security, administration, and engineering.

  • Minimum of 8 years of demonstrated experience in enterprise architecting and security

  • Demonstrated automation for deployment and security using CloudFormation Templates and configuration management tools (Ansible, Chef etc.).

  • Strong knowledge in the services not limited to AWS Security (Guard duty, Security Hub, AWS inspector, WAF, Shield, IAM, Roles, Policies) S3, EC2, ECS, EBS, AMI, VPC, Subnet, Route Table, Security Groups, NACL, VPG, WAF, CloudWatch and AWS Configuration.

  • Must have strong technical knowledge in information security in combination of the following areas:

    Azure Cloud and virtual hosting environments.

    Networking technology

    Operating system administration for Windows and Linux servers,

    Microsoft Defender ATP, Trend Micro Deep Security

    Web operations, Apache, WebSphere, network, and Internet security

  • Domestic 5% for quarterly team meetings.

  • Key Working Relationships:

  • GIS team members across organization, business resources 

  • Colorado State Posting Details:  This position’s starting salary is between $85,000 and $170,000 per year, and it is bonus eligible. Salary will be determined by education, experience, knowledge, skills and abilities of the candidate, in addition to internal equity and alignment with market data.
