Discover how much is possible as you grow or advance your career.This is a remote position and can be located anywhere within the United States.POSITION SUMMARYThe Contracts Specialist is responsible for supporting the Upper Midwest Region by reviewing and negotiating a wide range of contractual agreements and certain client-form contracts (including drafting revisions thereto), advises business on compromise positions and elevates unresolved legal issues to members of the corporate legal department as appropriate. This position will work with in-house counsel, and the internal colleagues as needed, providing advice and insight on a wide range of contractualissues to those within the Upper Midwest Region.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONSServe as point of contact for internal and external customers, as well as the corporate legal team, on regional contractual matters.Draft, review, and administer contractual agreements including, but not limited to, vendor and carrier contracts, non-disclosure agreements, fee for service agreements, business associate agreements, HIPAA privacy agreements and any others as required/requested by management.Prepare contract summaries highlighting and interpreting contractual rights and obligations to ensure that due diligence is practiced in complying with the stated terms and conditions, and make recommendations based on findings.Advise business on compromise positions and risks relative to contract provisions, and identify issues that need to be escalated to the corporate legal department.Conduct negotiations with external third parties, elevating unresolved legal issues to a member of the corporate legal department as appropriate.In conjunction with corporate legal, develop and implement procedures for contract management and administration, which adhere to regulatory requirements and company policy.Serve as point of contact for legal contractual matters, regularly consulting with internal counsel and the compliance department.At the direction of corporate legal/Litigation Specialist, manage subpoena and discovery requests, including requests from client counsel and MMA outside counsel privilege management.In conjunction with MMA Finance, manage any preference actions that may arise from client bankruptcy proceedings, including implementing a client bankruptcy protocol to help mitigate preference actions from being filed against the company.Contribute to and influence company policies and functional procedures.Assist with projects such as enterprise risk management, contract efficiency and contract tracking and reporting initiatives under the direction of in-house Legal.Examples may include projects such as assisting in the preparation of internal client communications and conducting internal client training on topics such as confidentiality and contracting requirements.Assist with preparation of proposals (e.g. RFP responses) to prospective clients.QUALIFICATIONSSuccessful candidate will be a service-oriented individual with high personal standards and a hands-on work style. This position requires an individual who is comfortable working at a fast pace, managing multiple tasks and deadlines simultaneously, adjusting priorities often, and managing frequent interruptions.This position interacts with and provides service to a large group of internal associates and has high levels of contact with clients and external business partners. The Contracts Specialist must be positive and approachable, and work effectively with diverse personalities.Bachelor Degree preferred.Successful work history to include a minimum of 5 years contract management experience. Experience working within the insurance brokerage industry strongly preferred.Knowledge of insurance terminology preferred, and an interest in learning complex insurance coverage issues related to Property & Casualty and Employee Health & Benefits coverage.Highly detail oriented with strong organizational skills.Excellent written and oral communications skills.Ability to work well independently and as a team member.Must be a proactive problem solver.Skilled in organizing resources and establishing priorities.Demonstrated ability to resolve problems and present results neatly, with clarity and precision in oral and written form.Demonstrated ability to develop, plan, and implement short- and long-range goals.Proficiency with personal computers and comprehensive knowledge of MS Word and Excel applications with the ability to operate standard office equipment is required.WORK ENVIRONMENT & PHYSICAL DEMANDSPrimarily normal office conditions; the noise level is quiet to moderate.Significant use of computer applications and ability to communicate with clients, carriers and peersExtended work hours required on occasionAbility to meet tight time constraints on occasionTravel within the region and for corporate activities will be required.Marsh & McLennan Agency (MMA) provides colleagues the freedom to make a career and difference.
