What you will be doing

Under general direction of the Sr. Manager-Transportation Strategy & Planning, the Transportation Planning Manager will be responsible for providing financial planning, analysis, and reporting support to the corporate Transportation team across multiple business units. 

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Leads team of analysts and works closely with finance teams to develop annual Transportation budgets and monthly forecasts
  • Performs root cause analysis to identify cost drivers to explain any variance to plan and monthly estimates
  • Analyzes transportation spend to identify key trends and areas of opportunity to reduce expenses
  • Provides financial support for RFP’s across all modes of transportation
  • Leads key strategic transportation initiatives by performing financial analysis and presents results to the leadership team
  • Assesses financial impact of any changes in sales, operations, and other activities as it relates to transportation spend
  • Collaborates with members of the transportation team, carriers, and other business SME’s to reduce logistic costs and improve customer satisfaction
  • Prepares and presents carrier spend reports for quarterly business reviews
  • Participates in supply chain projects and strategy that are cross functional
  • Ability to manage multiple projects at a time, providing status updates, key milestones
  • Work on ad hoc projects as needed
  • What your background should look like 

    Requires broad training in fields such as logistics, finance, accountancy, sales, marketing, computer sciences or similar vocations generally obtained through completion of a four-year bachelor’s degree program or equivalent combination of experience and education. Normally requires 3-5 years directly related and progressively responsible experience. 

    MINIMUM SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITY REQUIREMENTS:

  • Must have 3-5 years prior experience developing and managing budgets
  • Must have prior experience in leading and developing teams
  • Strong analytical skills and ability to analyze complex data
  • Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing
  • Knowledge of ABC policies, programs & services and products
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Strong mathematical skills
  • Strong organizational skills; attention to detail
  • Advanced skills in Excel, PowerPoint, and Word
  • Familiarity with Power BI a plus
  • Good analytical, conceptual, and problem-solving skills to evaluate business problems and apply knowledge to identify appropriate solutions
  • Ability to present to all levels of management and internal/external audiences
