  • How you will make an impact

  • Responsible for the investigation, evaluation, negotiation, and settlement of auto liability claims that are of moderate level complexity ( Example:  Vehicle damage(s), determining liability, and fast-track injury claims)
  • Review notices of loss to determine proper coverage and deliver resolution
  • Conduct detailed phone investigations to determine liability and/or damages, obtain recorded statements, review police reports, and provide thorough follow-up
  • Determine suitable method of inspection, assign estimates, and proper vendors
  • Negotiate loss settlements based upon the review of facts
  • Establish and maintain proper reserves
  • Promote professional relationships with insureds, claimants, agents, attorneys, and internal clients, regarding the ongoing status of claims files
  • Draft professional written correspondence regarding various aspects of the claim
  • Adhere to fair claims’ settlement practices
  • Ensure and conclude claims in compliance with state/federal regulations and requirements, provisions of policy contracts, case law, and company standards
  • Maintain continuing education (CE) courses for required state licensing

    Minimum Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Claims handling experience and/or Relevant job experience considered (Insurance, Healthcare, Clerical/Office, Investigation, Legal/Paralegal, Law enforcement, Processing, Customer service/Call center)
  • Currently hold an active ( Rhode Island ) adjuster license or obtain following date of hire (American National will incur fees associated / No out of pocket expenses)
  • Preferred Qualifications:

  • Work experience as an American National Claims Representative
  • Work experience in any of the following areas:  Insurance, Healthcare, Clerical/Office, Investigation, Legal/Paralegal, Law enforcement, Processing, Customer service/Call center
  • Four (4) year completed degree in related field (Criminal Justice, Insurance and Risk Management, Business, Communications)
  • Working knowledge of CCC1 or alike estimating programs
  • Understanding of statutes, case laws, and policy contracts
  • Effective and organized multi-tasker
  • Comfortable managing difficult conversations with ease and confidence
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Passion to provide the highest quality of customer service
  • Detail oriented
  • Ability to negotiate
  • Ability to effectively manage time and provide thorough follow-up
  • Ability to work independently
  • Ability to navigate various computer programs simultaneously, utilizing noted applications (Microsoft Office and internal systems)
  • “Salary for this position can range from $42,095 for candidates who are minimally qualified through $52,620 for more highly qualified candidates. Candidates outside of the range are encouraged to apply, and will be considered based on experience, skill and education.”
