As a Senior Engineering Manager, Customer Identity and Access Management(CIAM) at Splunk, you will play a pivotal role in realizing our vision of enabling the Enterprise with a single and secure Customer Identity. Straddling the line between high-level strategy and hands-on execution, you will be responsible for driving the overall technical vision, implementation and delivery that your team produces to achieve our strategic goals. You will use your deep technical knowledge, IAM domain expertise, and experience delivering features using Agile methodologies, to consolidate our IAM assets to a single ubiquitous platform. 

This position requires you to be a self-starter with the ability to take ownership, work with tight timelines, handle various tasks simultaneously while continuing to develop a positive work culture. Qualified candidates are highly motivated, innovative and solution-driven with experience in shaping cohesive engineering teams and a passion for delivering quality solutions. In addition, great oral communication and written documentation skills are important for this role for promoting ideas throughout the organization.

  • Lead a team of accomplished Identity software engineers (full-time and contingent) to design and develop industry leading identity solutions for our Splunk.com login and account registration process on the Okta platform.
  • Manage and coach engineers to become proficient developers using leading software development practices and processes.
  • Hire, develop, and retain extraordinary talent to scale the program and meet customer demand.
  • Lead the daily management of team objectives, priorities, trade-offs, risk and performance management of all reporting staff.
  • Champion Agile methods and practices, such as pair programming, test-driven development, and continuous delivery.
  • Supervise the delivery of high quality, well-written code that is quickly understood and easily supported by others.
  • Participate in project core team meetings to discuss status, risks, and mitigation strategies across delivery teams.
  • Partner with Product Managers and Program Managers to define roadmaps and sprint planning objectives.
  • Define, manage, and report on key performance indicators that measure team performance against organizational objectives.
  • Coach team members to progress their personal and professional goals.
  • Requirements: I’ve already done that or have that!

  • 8+ years of management experience in a fast paced, Agile software delivery environment
  • 6+ years of Identity and Access Management (IAM) domain experience with a distinguished track record on technically demanding projects.
  • 5+ years of solid experience delivering federated authentication and account registration solutions using Okta platform.
  • Deep understanding of industry standard authentication and authorization protocols, such as Oauth, OpenID, SAML, RADIUS, or Kerberos and secure-by-design principles
  • Experience with global security and compliance standards relating to customer data management
  • Strong ability to enhance and support IAM systems in complex environments including operationalization, monitoring and process refinement
  • Intimate knowledge of Agile methodologies and core values to deliver work within the framework as a delivery manager
  • Demonstrable experience coaching and developing individuals to meet career objectives
  • Excellent written documentation and executive presentation abilities
  • Preferred knowledge and experience: These are a huge plus.

  • Experience with managing down tech debt and balancing it with new product development.
  • Knowledge of Splunk products

  • BA/BS in Computer Science, IT, Engineering, Mathematics or related field
