Hillrom Care Communications produces medical solutions to empower clinical communication and collaboration and promote patient safety and satisfaction in the acute care hospital environment.The Lead iOS Engineer is responsible for the development and maintenance of one of our mobile applications. They provide guidance to other engineers, conduct design reviews, and assist with complex problem resolution. They provide strong technical leadership across all layers of the application to ensure the product is successful as a whole. A commitment to collaborative problem solving, sophisticated design, and the creation of quality products is essential.Key ResponsibilitiesLeads requirement decomposition, detailed technical design, and development activities for an iOS mobile applicationEnsures the performance, quality, and responsiveness of the applicationWorks with the quality engineering team to help determine effective test and regression strategies for the application based on change impact assessmentAssists with the troubleshooting of difficult customer issues that cannot be resolved by the technical support teamHelps to ensure that development activities are in line with a medical process - inclusive of required technical documentation such as software design documents and technical interface specificationsThe lead role is responsible for individual development activities while also directly contributing to the overall application architecture and providing technical guidance to others on the teamQualificationsSkills and ExperienceRequired8+ years experience in software development with at least 5 years of direct iOS application development experienceBS Degree in a technical discipline (Computer Science, Computer Engineering, etc.)Proficient with Swift; Familiarity with Cocoa TouchExperience with threading, performance, and memory tuningExperience with RESTful APIs to connect iOS applications to back-end servicesKnowledge of other web technologies and UI/UX standardsUnderstanding of Apple's design principles and interface guidelinesFamiliarity with cloud message APIs and push notificationsKnack for benchmarking and optimizationProficient understanding of GitComfortable being involved in customer or 3rd party partner calls as a technical subject matter expert for the applicationPreferredExperience in the medical device industry or any other regulated product lineExperience working on an application that was part of a larger product portfolio including hardware, embedded systems, network communications, web services, and 3rd party integrationsKnowledge of low-level C-based librariesFamiliarity with Kubernetes and containerized applicationsHillrom is an equal employment employer F/M/Disability/Vet/Sexual Orientation/Gender Identity
