Job Summary:
At NorthBay Healthcare the Senior Data and Information Architect is responsible for the detailed design and development of data models and data marts within the enterprise data warehouse that will result in creation of dimensional reporting and KPIs from inception through production support, including the establishment of principles and procedures as well as documentation, review and final sign-off of the data models and data marts.
This position will physically develop data and information architecture in support of enterprise information management strategy and will partner with data warehouse architect for continued development and build of data warehouse. The Senior Data and Information Architect will play a key role on initiatives by translating business and clinical unit needs into building effective data/information architecture with the goal to maximize value derived from its solutions.
PRIMARY JOB DUTIES
-Partner with data warehouse architect to build and develop data warehouse architectural strategies at the modeling, design and implementation stages to address business and industry requirements.
-Create subject area data and information marts that are aligned with data warehouse structure utilizing the system development life cycle, generating the tables in the database, optimizing the configuration of the database and the objects within it, and determining the optimal design of the data marts to meet reporting and analytic requirements.
-Will demonstrate a strong understanding of key business drivers and will partner with business and clinical unit leadership and through the explanation of the data and information will provide recommendations to maximize the value of data and information assets via their creation, access, and use and enable the workforce to use BI technology as a competitive tool.
-Will have end-to-end vision, and see how logical design will translate into a physical design will translate into a physical design, and how the data will flow through successive stages involved.
-Work in collaboration with a variety of stakeholders to understand their data requirements and to translate functional specifications into technical specifications for reporting and analytics.
-Establish and maintain full understanding of all data sources and their potential for inclusion in the data warehouse.
-Will manage multiple data warehouse related projects, maintain/support project transparency, communicate risks, and effectively meet project goals in a timely manner.
-Analyze a variety of data sources for quantitative analysis.
-Document and communicate database schemas.
-Identify and correct deviations from database development best practice standards.
-Monitor and report systems resource consumption trends to assure production systems meet availability requirements and hardware enhancements are scheduled appropriately.
-Monitor and maintain data quality by implementing a strategy for identifying and correcting errors. Identify data issues and their root causes and apply fixes.
-Test changes to database applications or systems.
-Provide day to day leadership on multiple initiatives, to achieve business goals through the management of data, databases, and data reporting technologies.
-Provide data warehouse support by responding to user/business questions, and resolving problems.
-Involvement in all aspects of data warehouse database development and administration, including schema design, ETL process, monitoring, performance, query/database tuning and backup strategy.
-Ability to analyze source data for potential data quality issues and address these issues in the ETL procedures.
-Perform feasibility analysis and prototyping.
-Manage the data model for all the products.
-Understand and document the business requirements and utilize the appropriate tools and applications to develop solutions.
-Follow the appropriate methodologies for developing custom business intelligence, relational database, and data warehouse solutions.
-Develop and implement ETL routines for data load and extract to support reporting and analytics.
-Collaborate with developers and other team members during the development and transition activities to integrate BI tools and process into architecture.
-Perform data modeling activities, data integration/ETL strategies, data conversion, data validation and migration strategies.
-Participate in database design sessions with other developers.
-Define and maintain security model for all aspects of the data warehouse and reporting environment.
-Create, manage, and utilize metadata, Microsoft SQL Server, Oracle and large data sets using traditional as well as predictive/advanced analytic methodologies.
-Understand and define data transformations and meaning for data coming from source systems into the data warehouse.
-Will be actively involved in the governance of business definitions, naming standards and data architecture, be actively involved in the governance of business definitions, naming standards and data architecture, ensuring that all fields contain complete, well-formed and accurate definitions and conform to standard naming conventions and that the structure aligns with the design standards for best practices of the given component.
-Participate in the data governance and master data management activities.
-Collaborate with source systems development teams and content experts for data acquisition and data quality.
-Effectively utilize NorthBay data mining and data lineage tools, thru self-direction or training as provided by the organization.
-Must demonstrate skill and proficiency in applying highly technical processes and principles, demonstrate analytical requirements and the subsequent implementation of appropriate software and data structure solutions to business problems and function as the data base administrator (dba) for these structures.
Education:
Bachelors degree or 8 years of experience in the IS healthcare field at a higher technology level.
Experience:
-Minimum 5-7 years experience in Hospital Information Technology.
-Minimum of 3 years experience working with ETL tools.
-Minimum of 3 years experience defining data requirements and translating into models.
-Minimum of 3 years experience working with multiple databases.
-Minimum of 3 years experience in data and information architecture.
-Working knowledge in the design and development of data visualization tools to develop scorecards, dashboard and graphic presentations.
-Working knowledge of Windows, Unix, Oracle and/or SQL Server database applications.
Skills:
-Strong analytical and problem solving skills.
