Senior Software Engineer (Remote)

The Software Engineering team within the Information Management Service (IMS) organization is seeking an exceptional candidate to help further expand the realm of what is possible related to data science, machine learning, and artificial intelligence. The team is hyper-focused on developing and deploying analytics for real-world aerospace problems, such as aircraft predictive maintenance, flight data management, flight planning, and aviation weather. The ideal candidate will have demonstrated experience developing applications that integrate with large, varied, and complex data sets to derive actionable information and solve real-world problems.
This position offers an opportunity to work with a growing variety of aerospace data including flight data, maintenance records, weather, and business transactional data. Primary Responsibilities:
• Work in a fast-paced collaborative development environment with software engineers, data scientists, project engineers, and others in an Agile environment.
• Communicate complex technical subjects with clarity and precision. Prepare and deliver internal/external technical presentations and demo work to peers and stakeholders on a regular cadence.
• Perform code reviews and ensure code quality.
• Mentor junior software engineers to develop a strong sense of ownership and growth.
• Potential for domestic and international travel up to 10%
Basic Qualifications:
• Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and a minimum of 5 years of prior relevant experience unless prohibited by local laws/regulations OR Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 3 years experience OR In absence of a degree, HS Diploma/Equivalent plus 9 years of relevant experience is required
• Full stack software developer (C#, JavaScript, MS SQL)
• Visual Studio
Preferred Qualifications:
• Experience with the avionics industry to include cockpit avionics, communication networks, and ground-based services. Direct experience in an airline operational unit would be a plus.
• Experience with scripting languages such as Python
• Experience with Azure DevOps and Agile frameworks
• Familiar with the Vue JavaScript framework.
• Knowledge of secure coding practices
