The Role: Caroo is searching for an accomplished Enterprise SaaS CFO to partner with the CEO and broader leadership team as we enter our next phase of growth. The CFO will direct the day-to-day financial activities of Caroo and, most importantly, will foster a results and metric-driven culture by bridging financial management with operational execution. The ideal candidate is an exceptionally strategic CFO. Sure, FP&A, accounting, treasury, and audit/tax are critical foundations for this role. However, we are most excited about bringing in a well-rounded executive who will utilize analytical and financial frameworks to push how we think about and operate every aspect of our business.Candidates must be authorized to work in the United States to be considered for this role.

What You'll Do:

  • Drive Caroo’s strategic planning, forecasting, budgeting, and financial reporting:
  • Drive Caroo’s financial strategy and business planning in collaboration with the CEO.
  • Ensure preparation of timely, accurate, and relevant management and financial information.
  • Drive accountability, provide coaching to, and partner with the entire Leadership team in executing on our strategy with a mindful eye on our annual budget and financial plans.
  • Partner with the Chief of Staff to drive effective annual/quarterly goal setting, OKRs, and quarterly business reviews.
  • Elevate business analytics and operational finance
  • Architect and own executive dashboards and scorecards.
  • Partner with sales and marketing to synthesize and communicate analytical insights on revenue performance and trajectory.
  • Provide commercial support for go-to-market planning and execution including pricing models, margin analysis, customer LTV impact, channel/partnership economics, etc.
  • Collaborate with engineering to scope and implement data/BI infrastructure to speed time-to-insight and provide self-service analytics to all departments.
  • Own cash management, financing strategies, and capital raising activities
  • Manage cash flow and forecasting and cash positions/strategies.
  • Maintain tight controls over cash conversion cycle, inventory management, and other aspects of working capital management.
  • Investigate and provide recommendations on most appropriate methods to finance growth (e.g., traditional VC/PE, term loans/credit facilities, revenue-based financing, inventory financing, etc.).
  • Work closely with the CEO and Board of Directors on all strategic finance and capital raising activities.
  • Manage relationships w/ Board, investors, banks, and auditors
  • Own preparation of board materials, financial packages, and investor/lender communications.
  • Enhance processes, systems, and controls
  • Build out infrastructure, policies, and operations of the finance and accounting department.
  • Assist with systems and process implementations, helping to assess impact on financial planning, reporting and analysis capabilities.
  • Coach, mentor, and build a best-in-class finance org
  • Manage and develop a lean and efficient finance department, work allocation, training, problem resolution, performance evaluation, and building of effective team dynamics.
  • Who You Are:

  • Track record leading highly disciplined, focused finance organization that consistently delivers and achieves critical performance metrics.
  • Minimum 10 years’ experience leading the finance function within high-growth SaaS, e-commerce, and/or marketplace companies with at least $40M annual revenue.
  • Prior experience as CFO of a VC-backed company that has scaled from Series A through multiple growth funding rounds (Series B/C/D+).
  • Entrepreneurial spirit and energy with the desire to be part of a fast-growth start-up environment. Hands-on and able to “do the work” as leader of a small and nimble team.
  • Deep understanding of GAAP most relevant to software/e-commerce companies; especially technical topics such as revenue recognition, stock-based compensation expense, R&D capitalization, etc.
  • Strong internal finance skills including, but not limited to, accounting and tax, internal and external controls, budgeting and planning, treasury, financial systems, and management reporting.
  • Deep understanding of Enterprise SaaS unit economics, cohort analysis, and business drivers.
  • Experience with physical inventory and supply chains/logistics is a must.

  • Proven ownership of functions outside of finance & accounting (e.g., people/HR, legal, business operations, corporate/business development).
