Job Description

ORC is seeking an on-call, non-exempt Right of Way Agent in the state of Kentucky. Candidate will work remotely out of their home office in Kentucky and must be able to travel about 50% of the time throughout Kentucky and surrounding states. This position is great for someone looking for a revised work schedule. ORC does not guarantee a set number of hours, instead it's driven by project needs. Expenses and mileage reimbursed based on travel needs.

The agent will provide land acquisition services for federally funded road projects and private utility companies throughout the right-of-way project lifecycle in support of the Project Manager (PM), or members of the project team.

Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:
  • Ensuring compliance with applicable laws, rules, regulations, policies and procedures
  • Performing right-of-way acquisitions per project guidelines and regulations
  • Preparing real estate documents
  • Performing basic property research for ownership and boundary information
  • Communicating with property owners and their representatives for the acquisition of right of way
  • Performing general administrative / clerical work as required, including but not limited to preparing legal documents, reports and correspondence, attending meetings, entering and retrieving computer data, copying and filing documents for file management, verbal and written communications with customers; customer service and related functions
  • Trouble shooting customer complaints and issues


Skills:
  • Able to work efficiently under tight deadlines, as well as balance multiple projects by prioritizing effectively.
  • Must be responsible and have demonstrated organizational and planning skills.
  • Approachable and good at interacting with diverse groups of people
  • Analytical, problem solver, and strong attention to detail and negotiation skills.
  • Able to communicate clearly and concisely, both verbally and in writing
  • Ability to work with a team and independently with minimal supervision

Minimum Requirements:
  • Minimum of two (2) years of Right of Way experience
  • Must live in Kentucky
  • Must be proficient with MS Office Suite, specifically:
    • Excel - able to add/delete rows and columns, sort and filter, search for data within a workbook and other basic formatting
    • Word - must be able to format documents and letters, and track changes made to documents; must be able to upload documents into a shared online database, such as Dropbox or equivalent
    • Outlook - create/maintain outlook calendar; effectively sort and organize outlook emails
  • Must have an iOS or Android smartphone to be able to access ORC's systems
  • English language proficient
  • Valid Driver's License

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Active Kentucky Notary
  • Experience utilizing the Uniform Relocation Act (URA)

The employee is required to move about inside the office to access files, office equipment and to interact with other members of the staff. This role requires the employee to occasionally travel to meet with clients or vendors which involves time driving; sometimes for long durations. While meeting with clients and vendors, will need to be outdoors traversing different types of landscapes. May be exposed to the elements (heat, rain, snow, cold).
