Dietetic Internship Manager - Remote Work Role

Coordinates and manages the day to day activities of a regional group of dietetic interns enrolled in the Aramark Healthcare Distance Dietetic Internship program in compliance with accreditation standards of the Accreditation Council for Education in Nutrition and Dietetics (ACEND). In conjunction with Dietetic Program Director, responsible for development of curriculum to provide experiences that enable dietetic interns to acquire the knowledge, skills, and abilities to function as an entry-level registry-eligible dietitian and to pass the registration examination for dietitians. Responsible for scheduling the placement of regional interns during the internship, and supervising clinical, community, and management rotations. Teaching clinical and community courses at a post-graduate level. Assist in the development of internship processes in marketing, recruiting, and intern selection. Counsel and evaluate regional group of interns. Manage fiscal resources to operate within internship budget. Maintain RDN and licensure credentials.

Program Planning, Development and Implementation:

  • Coordinates program goals and objectives with Dietetic Internship Managers and Dietetic Program Director to provide at least 1000 hours of supervised practice and didactic experiences for dietetic interns.
  • Coordinates curriculum and competency development with Dietetic Internship Managers and Internship Program Director.
  • Guides and directs program accreditation through the process established by the Accreditation Council for Education in Nutrition and Dietetics (ACEND) of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics (AND).
  • Plans rotation assignments to meet student learning outcomes of the program and reviews curriculum with preceptors.
  • Reviews rotation schedules with Dietetic Program Director to ensure it meets requirements established for internship.
  • Conducts yearly preceptor training and site evaluations to ensure established guidelines and competencies are maintained within each rotation assignment.
  • Guarantees dietitians and foodservice staff participating as preceptors and/or instructors in the internship program meet Aramark’s Food Fundamental requirements and relate any problems with compliance to the Dietetic Program Director.
  • Plans rounding calls with preceptors and interns.
  • Plans and teaches graduate level classes in clinical, management and community topics to supplement rotation objectives and learning outcomes.
  • Coordinates with Dietetic Internship Managers and Dietetic Program Director to provide expert guest speakers to enhance intern learning experience. Expert guest speakers may include Aramark managers and dietitians to present lecture and learning experiences to dietetic internship students.
  • Develops with Dietetic Internship Managers and Dietetic Program Director research and project experiences for interns that meet student learning outcomes. Ensures projects align with Aramark goals and expectations.
  • Develops evaluations and testing to determine student learning outcomes.
  • Guides and directs, within the accreditation standards provided by ACEND, dietetic interns to internship completion and to function as entry-level registry-eligible dietitians.
  • Program Evaluation

  • Contributes to program accreditation by complying with yearly, 7 year ACEND site visit and self-study report requirements and internship evaluations documenting yearly internship outcomes with student, preceptor, and employer satisfaction of the internship program based on ACEND standards.
  • Shares responsibility for Aramark internship program meeting minimum requirement of at least 80% pass rates for first time test takers on the Registration Exam for Dietitians.
  • Coordinates with each regional intern to complete program requirements within 150% of the time planned for completion.
  • Participates in tracking outcomes appropriate to program performance to assess employer satisfaction, graduate school acceptance rates, community contributions, or professional leadership of program graduates.
  • Contributes to the data analysis used to assess the extent that expected program outcomes and goals are being achieved.
  • Program Recruiting and Selection

  • Participates in strategic and innovative methods for recruiting targeted potential internship students in coordination with Dietetic Internship Program Director
  • Participates in the recruitment of prospective students and disseminates program information to students, colleges, universities, and individuals requesting information.
  • Participates and help to organize virtual open house events prior to application deadlines
  • Participates in the selection process of students by reviewing internship applications, selecting students for interviews, and completing selection of yearly internship class.
  • Reviews final intern selection with Dietetic Program Director ensuring that all accepted students meet established selection criteria for acceptance to the dietetic internship program and that selected students align with Aramark business and professional expectations.
  • Program Financial Responsibilities

  • Submits projected expenses for approval to Dietetic Program Director prior to budget review.
  • Controls internship operational expenses and resources to meet fiscal budget.
  • Human Resource Management

  • Manages, disciplines, and evaluates the performance of regional interns.
  • Resolves conflicts using constructive coaching techniques while providing interns with feedback that is timely, clear, and appropriate.
  • Ensures regional interns comply with policies, procedures, and standards of the Business Conduct Policy while in rotation sites.
  • Counsels and mentors with each intern after rotation completion to discuss evaluation prior to starting a new rotation.
  • Reviews dietetic intern performance evaluations summary reports and takes appropriate action when minimum standards of performance are not being met.
  • Engages with Dietetic Program Director, as appropriate, to ensure timely issue resolution.
  • Maintains a current Student Handbook and Administrative policies in coordination with the Dietetic Program Director.
  • Manages regional intern files and records in accordance with internship policy.
  • Professional Development

  • Maintains dietetic registration and continuing education requirements.
  • Maintains state licensure as required by state.
  • Develops and implements individualized plan for professional growth and development including participation in professional organizations and activities.
  • Continues education and development to maintain cutting edge computer skills.
  • Active member of the Nutrition and Dietetic Educators of Practitioners group of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics.
  • Participates in organizational meetings and on-going performance improvement activities and projects.
  • Maintains professional conduct to reflect Aramark Business Conduct policy. 
  • Qualifications

    Education/Experience:

  • Master’s degree in nutrition, dietetics, food management, or related area, granted by a U.S. regionally accredited college or university.
  • Credentialed as a Registered Dietitian by the Commission on Dietetic Registration.
  • Minimum of 3 years professional experience post credentialing.
  • Skills/Abilities:

  • Knowledge of ACEND standards and broad knowledge of clinical and administrative dietetics.
  • Proficiency in use of word processing and spreadsheet software.
  • Proficiency in the use of social media tools for recruiting
  • Proficiency in the use of educational learning systems
  • Ability to integrate food and nutrition services with other services in the practice setting.
