Reaching this goal optimizes the quality and value of care that is delivered during this time in an individual's life, and in turn, saves costs for both the client and their health plan.The Quality Coding Specialist RoleThe Quality Coding Specialist has a key role in helping us achieve that mission.This is a part-time. 20 hour per week position, working remotely from your home office.The Quality Coding Specialist helps develop and maintain quality standards for our Living Well Program, providing validation and verification of the value we offer our clients. The Quality Coding Specialist assists in determining the organization's Specialists' fidelity to the Motivational Interviewing (MI) model and completion of advance care planning outcomes. The Quality Coding Specialist assists the organization in identifying training needs, and gathers data to ensure the work is adhering to the standards. The Quality Department prepares reports of findings to be shared with Vital Decisions Management, as well as Clinical Operations, Learning & Development, and Client Services Departments, to help the organization determine quality initiatives.As Quality Coding Specialist, you will provide support in the following functional areas:Detailed review of service delivery within our clinical programing:Verification of program outcomesCoding for MI approach/skillsCompliance/adherence to company policies/procedures/standardsReview of case documentation to ensure accurate representation of the audio recordingParticipate in coding special projects as assigned to meet programing needs.Attend and actively engage in weekly team reliability meetings.Work in collaboration with VP of Clinical Program Development to develop and maintain reliability in coding standards.Work in collaboration with Manager of Quality to make recommendations to Operations and Learning & Development as to company-wide quality initiatives.Review of quality metrics/reports to identify company-wide trends and areas of concern.Engage in other projects as requested by Manager.Education and Experience Master's degree in a human services or other related field required.Trained and proficient in coding MI sessions using the MITI globals strongly preferred.Experience in coding audio clinical sessions or evaluating transcripts of clinical sessions preferred.Experience in monitoring and/or the evaluation of clinical or human services records and programs a plus.Knowledge, Skills & AbilitiesKnowledge of quality assurance and utilization review principles and methods.Ability to analyze data collection forms, methods, procedures, techniques, and workflow in order to identify and resolve problems.Ability to arrive at sound and accurate judgmental decisions concerning areas involving interpretation.Ability to prepare and present clear, sound, accurate, and informative reports.Ability to maintain essential records and files.Ability to use Microsoft Office product suite and videoconferencing products.Ability to learn to utilize various types of electronic recording and information systems such as CARE, Xima, and Cognito Forms.Travel100% remote role from home office. No travel required.Physical DemandsWhile performing the duties of this position, the Quality Coding Specialist is regularly required to listen, see, vocalize, and possess ability to understand and remain stationary for extended periods of time. The Quality Coding Specialist frequently is required to use hands to operate a computer, keyboard, mouse, and phone.
