Our client is an early-stage venture gaming studio that is building a title from scratch that offers a unique take on a classic ARPG. They’ve recently received $5 million and are currently working on their Vertical Slice. They are looking for passionate gaming professionals who would enjoy the challenge of building a game from scratch.

What You Will Be Doing

  • Make and push the vision and direction of the technical art team, managing VFX, shader development, lighting, tooling, and performance
  • Lead other technical artists in areas of your expertise and help instill the company’s best practices
  • Define and document game/engine technical specifications and drive workflow optimization
  • Foster clear and concise communication between the art and tech teams
  • Collaborate with engineers to optimize performance without sacrificing artistic integrity
  • Becoming a communication bridge between art, design, engineering, and production
  • Develop appropriate tech tools, shaders and pipelines to be leveraged by artists
  • Collaborate with engineers to build features and solve creative technical problems
  • Leads others on best practices including defining and documenting game or engine technical specifications and driving workflow optimizations
  • Assist animators and artists with troubleshooting
  • Issues may include animation, rigs, shaders and FX
  • Ensure that lighting assets meet budget requirements
  • Create, maintain and tweak shaders to allow for look development to support quality lighting
  • Collaborate with Environment Artists, Designers, and the Art Director to develop and execute plans for lighting game environments (exteriors and interiors) and cut scenes
  • Design, create, test, and maintain character rigs/setups
  • Work with modelers to create a model that meets technical needs
  • Develop and maintain character motion and deformation systems
  • Develop new techniques and processes to solve character production challenges
  • Capable of writing pipeline tools to streamline the setup process
  • Work with production management to prioritize tasks
  • Additional responsibilities may be assigned as needed
What You Will Need
  • 4+ years of experience in gaming
  • Experience with Unreal Engine 4
Nice to Have
  • Maya Rigging experience
  • AAA game development experience
