Job Information The Sales Rep is responsible for sales, support and service of the RSL products through General Agents (GAs) and their broker/producer relationships within his/her assigned territory. This position initially will be focused on helping penetrate several known GA’s located in the NY/NJ metro area with expectations of growing the relationships and cross selling RSL products into their existing customers. Other GA’s may be assigned to this position as deemed appropriate by RSL sales leadership. This position will also be responsible for identifying new GA’s RSL should be working with and keeping a pulse on the GA landscape to remain abreast of the competition. Lastly, this position will serve internally as needed as a GA SME expert to our admin and operational partners which will help RSL to fine tune a new distribution approach to working with GA’s. Sales Responsible for the recruitment, development and maintenance of the GA distribution channel within his/her sales territory for employer groups 2-100 lives. Responsible for achieving new business sales and revenue growth of Company’s SmartChoice small group program which is available for employer groups 2-10 lives and sold exclusively through the GA marketplace. Responsible for achieving new business sales and revenue growth of Company’s core product portfolio for employer groups 10 to 100 lives. Position will be responsible to coordinate and collaborate with RSL subject matter experts for certain products including voluntary benefits, Matrix/Absence, & Limited Medical for RFP’s above 100 lives. Responsible for educating and informing the GA’s how to do business with RSL leading with the SmartChoice platform for groups under 10 lives in which the GA can self-quote the ER groups and directing the intake of RFP’s for employer groups 10 plus lives to the appropriate location to be rated/risked and delivered back to GA. Will assist in providing service, education, direction and support to MGAs, brokers and policyholders wherever necessary. Operations Adherence to the established Field and Home Office administrative procedures and underwriting guidelines understanding completely the differences by product and case size. Provide guidance on elevated service concerns to policyholders, brokers and GA’s as necessary, working to resolve all service issues immediately. Accurately and timely record all lead information in the company provided CRM including all call activity, follow up and opportunities developed Complete, analyze and submit sales and pipeline reports to AVP, Strategic Alliances on a consistent basis Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and/or Related Experience Bachelor’s Degree required or equivalent combination of education and relevant experience. Minimum five years’ experience in employee group benefit sales experience with specific expertise and documented track record of success calling on the GA marketplace. Existing relationships within the GA landscape is ideal but not required. Ability to make a high concentration of outbound phone calls daily to build and strengthen relationships to drive production results. Ability to be self-directed and motivated working with subject matter experts across the organization to help drive new business and revenue growth. Effectively able to thrive in ambiguity. Excellent verbal and written communication skills required. Excellent presentation skills. Proven ability to present technical information to small audiences required. Proficiency in Microsoft programs including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint. Proven sales ability as demonstrated by previous, quantifiable results.
