Jefferson Wells (Great Lakes Region) is seeking a Senior Internal Auditor with responsibility for interacting with the Client Human Resources team to understand and test the Internal Control Environment around these functions. This will be a 4-6 week contract assignment. Candidates must live in either Michigan, Ohio or Western Pennsylvania. Experience must include Internal Auditing within the HR area.

This individual will have knowledge of and experience with documenting audit work either from a public accounting and/or internal audit background. The ideal candidate will have 10-13 years of combined functional and/or audit experience in these areas. Duties will include:

Work collaboratively with the client to complete the following objectives and work tasks:

  • Develop an Audit Approach and Program that can support a repeatable audit process for this engagement and future
  • Understand, walkthrough, and document the Control Environment (including specific sub-processes and controls)
    • Manual Controls
    • Automated Controls
    • Reporting
      • Internal
      • External (including Compliance and Regulatory)
  • Evaluate and test designated risk areas (and associated controls) with corporate HR functions
  • Share best practices on practices, policies, and procedures over HR functions
  • Identify and communicate results to the Client to gain their understanding and concurrence with recommendations
  • Maximize reliance on existing controls identified as work already performed by client in mitigating inherent risks

Requirements:

  • General Internal Audit understanding (including base understanding of the International Professional Practice Framework) - 10-13 years of experience
  • General understanding of internal controls and external factors facing Human Resource functions - 3-5 years of familiarity and/or exposure/experience
  • Excellent analytical and creative problem-solving skills
    • Anticipating, planning, and scheduling tasks within an overall plan for completing the work
    • Problem-Solving including the ability to aggregate and understand multiple processes without 'over-analyzing' any one specific area
  • Excellent listening, interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills
    • Ability to articulate, Elevate, and communicate issues in a manner that presents both problem and potential solutions while being a good listener
    • Ability to communicate between business, financial, and IT resources in a matter to gain maximum understanding
  • Logical and efficient, with keen attention to detail
  • Ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks while under pressure
  • Highly self-motivated and directed
  • Strong customer service orientation
  • Team Member who focuses on collaboration and maximizing team contribution
  • Relevant undergraduate degree (business, IT/Computer Science, etc.)
