This position is responsible to develop and manage a strategically aligned business development pipeline. Opportunity lead from initial identification through qualification, working in conjunction with capture management to determine next appropriate steps in the management of the opportunity. Responsible for identifying current and future client requirements and market trends, and position Magellan Federal for business growth. Be familiar with and follow proven business development methodologies and collaborate with other organization functional groups to develop qualification artifacts. Provides training and guidance to less experienced business development personnel. Develops and grows relationship with internally with peer and externally with clients and industry partners.Develops and executes a growth strategy based on Magellan Federal strategic goals and capabilities, client needs, market trends, and the competitive environment to meet assigned growth budgets.Collaborates within Magellan Health's Behavioral Health, Public Market Health Plans, Specialty Health, Clinical Operations, and Pharmacy to identify relevant capabilities and develop integrated solutions.Develops specific healthcare services sales and marketing plans and material based on Magellan Federal capabilities, client needs, market trends, and the competitive environment.Manages the business development pipeline following Magellan Federal standard operating procedures, processes, and templates.Develops content and presents Identification Step reviews providing leadership the understanding, history, and strategic value of specific opportunities enabling informed decisions to advance opportunities into the qualification stage.Develops content and presents Qualification Step reviews providing leadership details on client acquisition strategy, technical and management solution framework, staffing plan, past performance, competitive landscape, gap analysis, teaming strategy, pricing strategy, and risk and opportunities enabling informed decisions to advance opportunities into the capture stage.Supports assigned capture and proposal managers throughout capture and proposal states.Develops and presents a Capture Plan: detailing tasks, schedule, and resource requirements to execute a successful capture strategy, a Solutions Review: detailing technical and management solutions when no capture manager is assigned.Develops and presents a Bid or No-Bid Step review upon RFP release enabling informed decisions to advance opportunities into the proposal stage, when no capture manage is assigned.Owns and manages individual business development performance targets based on the business development lifecycle.Provides training and oversight to less experienced Business Development Managers.Supports continuous improvement of Business Development tools and processes.Supports organization audits and compliance.Other Job RequirementsResponsibilities8+ years business development and marketing experience, 2+ of which is related to healthcare services.Bachelor's in Healthcare Administration, Social Sciences or related field.Ability to develop and execute healthcare services strategic marketing plans.Ability to develop and execute a customer or client call plan resulting in contract award, inclusive of defining a value proposition based on capabilities and in response to client needs, market trends, and the competitive environment.Effectively collaborate among various internal organizational groups, consultants, industry partners, and client representatives resulting in revenue growth.Ability to develop and deliver C-Level presentations on business development strategy and implementation.Demonstrated ability to continuously meet or exceed assigned business development performance targets inclusive of revenue growth.3+ years' experience in a professional healthcare services network of current or previous agency leaders and contractors from a federal agency with health care requirements.Masters in Healthcare Administration, Social Sciences or related fieldExperience in complex population management, behavioral health & well-being, specialty medical management, human performance, or specialty pharmacy services.Proficiency in MS PowerPoint, Excel, Word, and Salesforce.General Job InformationTitleBusiness Development Director, Federal - Remote/Washington DC RegionGrade29Work ExperienceBusiness Development, MarketingEducationBachelors (Required), MastersLicense and Certifications - RequiredLicense and Certifications - PreferredMagellan Health, Inc. is proud to be an Equal Opportunity Employer and a Tobacco-free workplace.
