    The University of Nevada, Las Vegas invites applications for Oracle Database Programmers, Geoscience, College of Sciences (Part-Time or Full-Time, and Remote) [R0127167]

    ROLE of the POSITION

    Housed in the Department of Geoscience, the UNLV-FIA Information Management Research Group has been federally-funded as a research program since 1998. Our group has partnered with the Research & Development division of the USDA Forest Service to provide data management, analysis solutions, and programming support for the Forest Inventory and Analysis (FIA) National Program, which researches and reports forest trends in the United States. The purpose of this position is to provide advanced system analysis, data modeling, database systems design and implementation, and support for Extract Transform Load (ETL) processes. Responsibilities include developing and updating database products in an Oracle Enterprise environment. The person who fills this position should understand how complex data structures are implemented for best performance and integrity. Primary duties include creating database designs, developing security models, implementing validation and business rules, and developing ETL tools. Additional duties include maintenance and release support for the suite of FIA applications. Two positions are available: (1) a regular full-time position at 100% FTE; and, (2) a fixed-term position based on 75% FTE (with potential for promotion to a full-time position).

    NOTE: This position will work remotely from anywhere in the United States.

    A minimum of 5 years of experience is required to apply. A Bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited college or university is preferred, but not required. Similar work experience, technical skills or relevant certification may be considered in place of a Bachelor's degree.

    SALARY RANGE

    Salary is competitive with those at similarly situated institutions and commensurate with experience. Position is contingent upon funding.
