My client an exciting VC backed Biotechnology company, are looking for an experienced Patent/ IP/ Contracts Attorney into the business. You will assume responsibility for all aspects of IP matters arising from development projects and technology platforms; alongside provision of IP counselling to functional teams within the business. If you are a fully qualified Patent Attorney with experience within pharmaceutical/ biotechnology experience, please read on;

*Responsibilities;*

* Develop an IP filing strategy, in line with strategic goals and establish organizational structure to execute on this strategy

* Evaluate potential of R&D projects to generate new IP for the company and advise R&D leads on experimental work which may produce such IP.

* Provided opinions including patentability and potential in-licensing opportunities.

* Prepare and prosecute patent applications

* Addressing patent infringement through patent litigation

* Review IP clauses of various agreements (such as transfer and licensing agreements)

* Deal with assignments of patent when a patent is sold or transferred

* Analyse competitive situation and coordinate Freedom To Operate analyses

* Instruct on whether business activities will infringe on competitors patent rights

* In absence of an internal contract lawyer, provide legal advice on third party agreements

*Requirements;*

* Graduate degree from law school, plus IP/Patent certification

* Relevant work experience in-house or private practice (preferably IP specific and contract law)

* Work experience as in-house patent attorney in biotech / pharma (Virology will be highly favoured)

* Extensive, practical knowledge and IP experience - R&D exposure is essential

* Strong biologics/life science academic background, ideally at PhD level or equivalent

* Possess the commercial understanding and business acumen required to utilize IP as a business tool within global operations

* Be an excellent communicator, possessing strong oral and written skills

* Have the ability to build effective relationships with R&D scientists, legal and business teams

* Act with integrity and portray a positive, proactive and engaging manner and attitude

* Be a team player and generally displaying a collaborative & knowledge sharing attitude
