What you will do:

  • Develop, implement and lead global engineering and quality assurance to contribute to profitable and innovative business growth while significantly mitigating business risk and financial exposure and maximizing customer satisfaction. 
  • Provide leadership to the Global Engineering Teams delivering sustainability and decarbonization programs; design, implement and manage engineering process, tools, cost, innovation, risk reduction, and results. 
  • Direct the global engineering team and develop solutions consulting strategies and productivity improvements. Establish performance standards and objectives and manage team efforts to achieve them.  Support the global engineering efforts for large opportunities to drive customer satisfaction, quality, innovation, quality assurance and standardization. 
  • Direct the efforts of the global engineering team to provide specific functional and technical expertise, including presentation assistance, estimating, technical and financial analysis, design, risk reviews, etc.
  • Partner with sales, operations and engineering to identify, support, implement, and qualify existing and new offering and market opportunities.

How you will do it:

  • Direct the team in supporting the development of viable customer solutions and conducts risk analysis for a portfolio of projects.
  • Implement and utilize standardized tools and processes.  Establish, track and report key performance metrics.
  • Ensure that the workload is properly allocated within the teams and provides support for peak workload.  Review workforce levels, providing staffing forecasts, budgets, and plans.
  • Establish the plan for staffing levels and takes action to achieve that plan. Hires, retains, performance manages, and plans for career development of the team.  Ensures adherence to Company policies, procedures, and strategic initiatives regarding human resource management.  Assist in the recruiting, training, and development of engineers and managers.
  • Tracks changing trends in the industry, marketplace and business and takes action to adjust organization accordingly.
  • Support the preparation and execution of guarantee shortfall mitigation plans to minimize financial and performance risk while exceeding customer expectations.         
  • Provide suppliers, partners, and customer feedback for new offerings and existing offering enhancements.
  • Serve as an active member of the leadership team by providing information in an accurate and timely fashion. Work with and support other leaders to establish standards, share resources, incorporate best practices and performance metrics.
  • Establish effective learning and certification programs.
  • Remain current on engineering design, codes, standards and practices. Provides team with industry knowledge, and leverages field applications and best practices.  Directs the team in developing and maintaining competitively advantaged best practices, analyses, current competitive information and profiles, and effective presentations and proposals. Represents Johnson Controls, Inc. in professional and market related organizations. 
  • Responsible for the promotion of and adherence to Johnson Controls, Inc. ethics and safety policies.
  • Help foster creativity and create solutions in an inclusive business environment where all associates are respected and engaged
  • Work on and leads strategic initiatives as assigned.

What we look for:

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, or a related technical field along with at least ten or more years of engineering, construction, and project management experience.
  • Proven leadership skills and experience in managing an experienced technical team. 
  • Strong leadership, process, planning, and technical skills with the ability to motivate teams.
  • Demonstrated experience in recruiting, developing, and retaining people. 
  • Previous exposure to facility operations, budgeting, and cost accounting.
  • Formal report writing experience and excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Strong proficiency in MS office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Teams, SharePoint, PowerBI), Adobe, Visio, MS Project, basic Windows environment and internet business application usage, as well as standard industry tools and technology.
  • Exhibited growth mindset.
  • Ability to embrace ambiguity
  • Outstanding verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong problem solving, organizational, and prioritization skills with high attention-to-detail.
