OVERVIEW Global Trade Services is a critical part of enabling growth for the regions. This role is responsible to ensure seamless cross-border flow of goods in North America to meet business needs and drive cost advantage. This role will guide the pathway on how we move to support global expansion by being a Trade Enabler and champion to see across the SC, develop processes and find opportunities to enable an efficient SC while ensuring compliant transactions with international trade laws and regulations. This role primarily support North America, Blue Buffalo and Convenience & Foodservice for US & CA. The position will report under International/GEMS - however will be focused on North American Retail import/export businesses. This position will be accountable to design and implement global trade import standards and practices for movement of General Mills products across the globe in accordance with government rules. The processes will be developed with all regions to deliver execution speed and cost efficiencies. Close collaboration across Supply Chain functions and other functions Sourcing, External Supply Chain, FSQ, Finance, legal etc.) will be critical. KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES Local|Regional Import Compliance Operations Provide strategic direction for the management of General Mills CA & US Import Operations on customs strategies and goals that create value for the organization. Management of activities surrounding classification, valuation, reconciliation of assists, Free Trade Program, denied party screening, entry compliance, internal training and support Understand, assess and implement customs initiatives as they relate to General Mills Brands import and export activities Provide import/export border/compliance services to the ITQ Global shipping program Partner with Sourcing to select brokers/forwarders/cross border partners to minimize cost. Lead and develop efforts to implement global trade compliance standard process to ensure compliance with government regulations for the following import/export focus areas: Import/Export classification, documentation control, customs entry and free trade agreement process management for the region (Cost, Efficiency & Compliance) Partner with FSQ where Trade Compliance processes overlap to development and global trade compliance processes as One global Trade team (Country of origin, Classification, Feasibility) Policies/Procedures Own NA Trade Compliance documentation and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) to ensure compliance with company business practices and applicable laws and regulations. Manage & educate company on Global Standards for key trade compliance process areas Monitor and evaluate emerging NA trade issues and regulatory requirements. Process|Systems Lead and Drive Continuous Improvement and Sustainability Efforts (Import Operations Core Process Owner) Participate in Global Trade system processes and systems upgrades, enhancements People Leadership Develop, coach, and inspire the global trade organization, demonstrating servant leadership Responsible for the training, oversight, daily direction setting and annual people management cycle for a team. Oversee Third party onsite team Lead and guide the ongoing development of Import Operations priorities and future state roadmap The preferred location for this role is Minneapolis, MN however remote work-at-home applications will be considered MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS Bachelors 5+ years of relevant expereince Experience with Customs, and other government agencies Engage with Purpose: Experience working globally with variety of stakeholders with differing needs and agendas Team: Experience driving results through others within a dynamic, global organization Technical aptitude, specifically the ability to translate business need into technical application Knowledge of Import practices and ocean/land cross border transportation movements Ability to influence change, strong project, and change management skills Understanding and leveraging of continuous Improvement tools Ability to understand impact to upstream and downstream processes PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS Bachelors degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Business, Management or Finance 5+ years of SC operations, international transportation, and compliance US Customs Brokers License Experience developing and governing process Proficiency with Global Trade Compliance and Transportation Systems (SAP, TMS, Trade Automation, Sharepoint, etc) COMPANY OVERVIEW We exist to make food the world loves.
