Collins Aerospace Engineering Applications & Infrastructure Services organization is seeking a Senior Software Engineer with a passion for problem solving and satisfying customers through the delivery of improvements to the global engineering ecosystem that provide compelling gains to the consistency, efficiency, and productivity of product development efforts across the enterprise. As engineering software development methodologies continue to evolve, a candidate in this role will help to mature our feature delivery via DevSecOps methodologies and best of breed toolchains. The Sr Software Engineer will also serve as as mentor for other software developers on our Application Lifecycle Management team.Primary Responsibilities:Design, code, integrate, test, and document software enhancements, bug fixes and their releasesMentor less experienced developers in proper software design, code, integration, and testingPerform code reviews for other members of our teamEvaluate current application performance and structure against best practices and make recommendations for improvementsRecognize and address technical debt with development team and Product OwnerServe a valuable role on an agile development team of cross functional skills in the area of application lifecycle managementContribute to software engineering requirements capture, analysis, and creation for well-defined software designsStay up to date on software development and delivery best practicesPartner with a Software Architect to develop and adopt a DevSecOps pipeline / toolchain to enable rapid, secure, test driven development releases of enhancements, features, and bug fixesBasic Qualifications:Bachelor's degree and 7 years of relevant experience ORAdvance degree and 5 years of relevant experience ORIn absence of a degree, 11 years of relevant experience is requiredMust be a U.S. CitizenMust have or be capable of obtaining a US Department of Defense (DoD) security clearance.Candidate selected will be subject to a government security investigation/reinstatement and must meet eligibility requirementsPreferred Qualifications:Experience primarily with Java or one or more OO languages such as C#, C++, etcProven web application development skills including proficiency in API development and web servicesSpecific experience with designing and tuning elements of full stack systemsSuccessful track record of application deliveryWorking knowledge of multi-threaded programming and practicesDemonstrated experience in Agile methodologies and software deliveryExperience with the Atlassian tool suite (Jira, Confluence) or other Application Lifecycle Management toolsets.
